Who uses mobile internet!!! What plans work the best??
I'm in Illinois right now, but I need good service in the Miami area and maybe LA.
Mostly for the conventions and vacations.

You might want to look into Verizon LTE, which should be available in Miami, at least that's what google has told me. It is hands down the fastest mobile internet available. It seems that MetroPCS also offers LTE in Miami and may be better since they are known to offer services for the budget minded, and you won't need it for the long haul.

Just be sure to check to see if the mobile networks censor any sites, as MFC would definitely fall under adult material. T-Mobile does this, but has an option to turn off the webguard, which was on by default.

Realize that the major carrier wireless 4g services aren't unlimited, at least from what I understand Verizon isn't. T-mobile is the only one that I am aware that offers unlimited service - however, they throttle the bandwidth once you hit your cap.

I know there are services like http://www.clearview.com that offer unlimited packages.

I think you mean http://www.clear.com which is clearwireless. I give you a 50/50 chance of that working for you. Doing tech support I've had to connect to customers on clear. Half of the connections are "decent" while the other half seems like they're on Edge (2G).

But you are definitely correct in regards to the bandwidth limitations and throttling. I think Verizon LTE gives you 10GB a month. If you plan to only be camming for a couple of days or a week, that should be enough. Although I can't be sure as I don't know the amount of bandwidth sending video amounts to over a session of camming.

If you want, you could download the trial of Netlimiter and it will monitor your bandwidth and show you stats and a graph and you could see what your average camming bandwidth is.

I'm probably going overboard here, but I've been thinking a lot about mobile internet lately as my job only requires me to have an internet connnection and a place to work. Hope this helps.

I'd talk with your current cell phone provider to see if they have a mobile broadband plan, I've had good experiences with Sprint in the Seattle, LA and LV areas.
Verizon is the other good 4G provider, probably the fastest out there..
I've had limited experience with Clearwire and their 3g and it worked well, it looks like they have a 4G option now http://www.clear.com/

I pay $50/mo for Verizon 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot because I am traveling quite a bit these days. I highly recommend it! It's fast (depending on your location) and has not given me much gripe. The only downside is that I had to pay a large down payment since my credit score was a tad low. It's not a huge issue because I will get that back in a year. Good luck!
