So. I decided, I don't want to be "XOX" anymore. I like the name, yes, but I really wanted an actual stage name. Something I like.

Now, I've changed my name on Streamate once before, TO XOX. So I knew it was possible. This was done... probably close to a year ago, so I assumed enough time had passed for the request not to be bothersome. Not that it matters, but I prefer not to be a pest.

I received this reply to my "hello, I'd like to have my name changed on Streamate from XOX to XOX thanks!"

'Hello,

Thank you for your request - However, nicknames cannot be changed in our system. You would need to generate a new profile and submit new documentation in order to select a different nickname.

Please note that new accounts are subject the normal approval process so there will be delays in being able to use a new account.

Let us know if we can be of further assistance.

Thanks'

Hm.

I replied with

"Um.

I had my name changed before, to XOX."

I sent a follow up message, after doing some Googling.

"Also, since I've changed my nickname once before and I'm aware you can change your nickname, I decided to double check if I was simply mistaken, although I know I'm not.

https://www.stripperweb.com/forum/showt ... -Streamate

This website came up in my search and it seems I'm not the only girl who has requested a nickname change and was denied... but I'm also not the only girl to have received a nickname change.

I'm unsure if there are multiple Streamate support workers and I'm sure you answer many mails a day, but I'd like to be connected with the person who changed my nickname last time, if possible.

I appreciate your time."

I then received this reply:

"The policy stands. Once an account has been reviewed and approved, the model name cannot be adjusted. Thanks for your understanding in our sites policies."

I left it at that for a few days, annoyed, but I decided to think about it for a bit before I replied. Now, keep in mind, I know this is bullshit. I remember something when I was signing up for Streamate in the first place that allowed for name changes.

This person is telling me I need to scrap my rating [although there's only a hundred so far, those are my hundred ratings!] and restart.

So, I decided, since I was making a new e-mail anyways, why not?

Then I ran into this page, during my signup process for Streamate.

Huh!

Interesting.

I contacted SM Support yet again and I'm awaiting my reply.

"Hello, I contacted Streamate a few days ago regarding a name change and was told that your 'policies' require me to make a new account.

I found this confusing, as I've had a name change on Streamate before and I remember that pretty clearly.

So, I decided to take the support person's advice and begin making a new account, when I ran into this page. The personal information page.

I noticed that on the personal information page, while filling out my desired display name, that right under it, it instructs me to contact support if I wish to change my name.

I'm incredibly curious to know why I've been told to create an entirely new account, when it says on the signup page that I'm able to contact support about this?

That is the page in question.

My name is currently XOX on Streamate and I would very much appreciate if my name was changed to "XOX" and my e-mail changed to XOX

If it is not possible to get this name change, I would like to know why it is stated on a streamatemodels.com web page that I can indeed get my name changed?

Thank you for your time."

Why did I create this thread? Because I'm curious to see if this is one of the few flaws Streamate has. So far, I've enjoyed working there. My checks come in on time, Support was great previously whenever I had an issue come up... which really wasn't frequent. The pay is alright, basic pay percentage for the sites. Etc, etc, etc.

I suppose it just bothers me that they're throwing around the "policies" word when it very clearly states on a page of their website that a name change is possible.

It's a very small issue, yes. It's not something that will cause me to go work for another site, but, I wanted to make it clear that this is a contradictory policy, if it is indeed a policy... and that the amount of support you actually receive from Streamate support seems to depend on the person you speak with.

This Stripperweb link, as I posted in one of the e-mails to Streamate, further cements my findings that it depends on who you get at Streamate.

https://www.stripperweb.com/forum/showt ... -Streamate

I would definitely like to see more consistency from SM in this area.

Thoughts?

I would suggest not stirring up shit on SM. There is actually favoritism played there from time to time (you can actually see documentation of this on StripperWeb) and you don't want to get on support's bad side. Email Vanessa though, she should be able to help you out asap. But don't try to bicker with support again, it can cause you some problems. :/

I received their reply a few minutes ago.

"Thank you for contacting Performer's Support.

The only way the nick name can be changed for you on the same account is if you make the request before your documentation is approved. This way we can assure that current documentation will take the name change in consideration.

If your account has already been approved than the rule still stands, you will need to create a new account.

If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask. Have a nice day!"

Honestly, at this point, as much as I like working for Streamate, I'm going to start looking for a different site to work for. I seem to be getting a different answer from each customer support rep and I'm not happy with this at all.

These websites are already taking 70% of what I earn, I think the bare minimum I can expect is to not be warned against 'favoritism'.

I'm going to leave this thread up for the sake of knowledge. I still think Streamate is a good company and definitely fits a lot of women though.

I'm almost certain, by the way, that my last name change was made... actually, scratch that, I'm certain my name change was made after everything had been approved. The reason I changed it was because somebody had found me under my previous name quite easily.

Make sure you pick a name you like on Streamate! Regardless of what their sign up page says, it seems you have a 50% chance of being able to change it later on.

I don't like dealing with general SM Model Support, because of the robotic replies they tend to give models. I prefer to speak to Vanessa whenever I have an issue. In fact, when SM was telling models that they need an i7 processor, I believe Vanessa was the one who informed models that an i7 processor isn't necessary. Every time a SM model had some sort of issue, the general Model Support would just blame it on the model not having an i7.

I changed my SM name a little while ago after e-mailing Vanessa. She was able to change it for me, without me having to start all over and lose my history. I'll PM you her e-mail address.

good advice with any tech support.

I may need to get a poster made
But then again if they can't handle something so simple as this, then they aren't really 'tech' nor are they any support. So are the really any good?

Regular SM support isn't good for actual issues, I try to not go back in forth with them whenever possible. The only times I'll message them is for things I know they will do--remove a 1-star rating, enable the pause button, enable a static image, jack your private/exclusive rates up to $14.99 (or more?), etc.

They are quite fast to fix those issues for you, but if you want something else, they don't want to do it. GOLD shows? They'll tell you they can't enable them (even when sometimes they will), username change? Nope, they'll tell you that.

Best bet is to go through Vanessa if you are independent and your studio if you aren't. I think Vanessa has to be part robot considering I don't know how any human can be as efficient and helpful as her. I feel like she's messaged me back my answer before I've even had the chance to hit the send button. She's truly amazing. I've seriously gotten responses back from her on Twitter or email within one minute of sending them on several occasions.

I don't know if Vanessa will be able to change your username for you or not, but at the very least, she will be able to close out your account and re-open a new one ASAP so you won't have a delay while waiting for your new account to be approved. And you won't have to have a payment delay on the new account.

Also, Streamate support's answers are totally dependent on who reads them. I've gotten extremely incorrect information from one person and when I emailed them back calling them out on it politely, they said that they were sorry and that the person responding was told the incorrect information which passed on to me. At least they have admitted their mistakes. I feel like some support people either haven't been taught how to do specific things like username changing or GOLD show enabling or know the answer to very specific questions or maybe they are just too lazy to go in and do those, not really sure. Sometimes you'll get someone who is polite and knows what they are doing, though. It just takes a few tries.

And sometimes, if you continue messaging them about something, they'll just stop answering you. That's also happened to me recently. They just didn't message me back after I asked them a question.

I know this post is old but I'll give it a shot...

I just tried to do the same thing with my account name because I just learned that a porn star has my same name...

Streamate tech support wrote back the same answer. I was a little miffed because I remembered seeing the text that said you could change your name if you contact support, but since I haven't gone live yet and don't have any ratings or comments I figured why not just make a new account.

The only thing is, I had to use one of my alternative email addresses to make the new account since I used my primary one for my old account. Now I want to switch it and use my primary email for the new account I made. Does anyone know how to change the email address you use through the Streamate dashboard?

Thank you for your help!

As far as I know, you can't change your email either. I've never been able to. Once you sign up with an email, you can't sign up with that email again. I've made a couple accounts over my three years of camming and had to make a new email each time. It would be so much easier (for us of course, idk about them or how it works on their end) if we could just change our damn names. Even Vanessa won't change it unless Streamate fucked up somewhere. (IE: my cammodels link wouldn't work, so I was given the name of the account that I'd just closed.)

You can't change your name, but if you talk with Vanessa you can get your favorites and ratings transferred. At least I think ratings were one of the things they transferred, I know there were a couple of things. Do not underestimate the importance of doing this! Also, it's helpful to keep the same profile photo if you want regulars to find you, then in 3 weeks or so you can change it up. Unless you're trying to start with a blank slate, but it doesn't seem like that's your goal.
