Get model status here for countless threads to help newbies: viewtopic.php?f=24&t=1696 and then read threads until you feel like your eyeballs are going to fall out. Take a nap and then read some more. Seriously.
Figure out what you are or are not comfortable with on cam and don't let anyone bully you into anything.
Invest in a good cam (logitech 9000, c910 or c920 are what are commonly mentioned as being used).
Save for taxes (camsites don't take taxes out for you).
Have fun!

ETA: Something I wish someone had told me when I first started, be careful with your personal information because all it takes is one crazy to really mess up your days.
