360 XBLA only, though, as MS Studios is publishing. Just heard about this yesterday, somehow, and it comes out sometime this month. Basically, you're a zombie apocalypse survivor in a rural town, and instead of just shooting the waves of zombies coming after you, you're tasked with building up bases with defenses and supplies, and bringing other survivors back to these bases to defend, build, etc. It's basically an RTS in third person/GTA gameplay. You have to manage/obtain resources, your people's trust in your several playable characters, yours & their health, etc. So, basically what everyone does after/between zombie movies. There's several videos on YouTube, as the devs have, I think, weekly streaming gameplay sessions. I'd have linked one, but I totally planned this post out so well in advance of posting. Har har.

THIS THREAD IS MINE, ALL MINE... Ok, no, but this is silly...

Anyway, this came out this morning, on XBLA (PC is in a few months, I think) for ~$20 or whatever that is in MSBux.

So, you start out on a fishing trip as one character with a tag along AI friend. Eventually going to a ranger station, you are enlisted to help them. pick up another AI friend, this one, you can switch to playing as her, if you want. Blah, blah, stuff happens, you move to a church in the nearby town as your base for now. Do some missions, like climb a cell tower to scout for places that might have supplies. missions to retrieve those supplies, going to rescue others you've called in as runners if they get caught in a horde of zombies, that kind of thing.

I was on a mission to go get some supplies, on the way home, I decided to check out a house. Bad fucking idea, I got my character, Maya, ripped to bits. Genius move. So, it shoots me back to the church as another character (this time, the original character, Marcus) So I decide to go retrieve Maya's pack of supplies, and her personal equipment. Also, again, a bad idea. But that comes later. On the way there, I go back to a plce I know has supplies, call in a runner on the radio, drive off in a car. Forget engines are loud, alerting zombies. So, I have to go back and rescue the hell out of that runner. This goes fine. Then I go to pick up Maya's shit, forgetting how many zombies were there the first time... Get torn to hell. And because I've not done enough missions to satisfy any other characters to have high enough trust in me, That was the end of that game.

So, yeah, play it smart, park within walking/running/stealthing-slowly-through-bushes distance of your objective, if you must drive. thank god there are not many zombies hanging about the church itself. and even then, they tend to follow your car as your car is the noise maker. and depending on the distances, don't fucking drive!

Course, they have home made supressors for guns, but no home made mufflers or something for cars.

I forsee several horrible things like this happening to me in the future, as this game is horribly addicting.

Haven't downloaded an Arcade game in a while. This is totally worth it. Now, just hope the TMNT and DuckTales HD Arcade games are good, too.

Pretty cool game even if it feels PS2ish in parts. I did terrible at first and restarted once I knew what I was doing. Read that it was downloaded half a million times. Bootleg Mustang was the shit.

I played the trial and really liked it! So I downloaded it last night and it will be my reward for finishing the two essays I'm supposed to be writing that I'm procrastinating on by posting on ACF... :P

Anyways it seems like a lot of fun, I absolutely love zombie games so I'm stoked on it. It reminds me of a mix between The Walking Dead (Telltale, lol) & a bit of Dead Island. It doesn't seem very 2013ish but I quite like it. I love Maya, too.

I brought this game, and I've played a decent amount so far. I like it because of how much you can develop and for the fact that it is a survival game. But this game is frustrating. I think it's too high maintenance for what you are allowed to do in the game. Between keeping morale, stocks, upgraded the base, clearing the area, saving someone/ escorting someone, and traveling all over the place ALL AT THE SAME TIME. It's like everything just pops up at once, and if you don't do something within the time frame you lose morale, or influence.

But I am very excited to see what/how they do with the DLC.

Yeah, I really like this game (finished it once and am playing it again, mostly ignoring quests to run around and fight zombies), but it's really high maintenance. You can't just pop on for quick gaming session because of how needy they are. So much running around! I hate going between towns so often.

Also fuck Big 'Uns. :p
