Hedy & Gigi.

Both rescues from arkansas at the shelter I worked at... Hedy had heartworms and needed extra care during her treatment - she was very very ill thanksgiving 2008. I took her home with me to watch her as the shelter was not staffed and she never left.

Gigi arrived with three pups that weren't her, and the old man in the truck said she'd been running wild for a year near his rural property. He thought she had mange and had dipped her in motor oil but it hadn't cured her so he brought her in. She was 15 pounds and almost hairless.

Turned out she just had a major major skin allergy... which is now - 2 yrs later - fully under control and my little old grumpy lady is back to being a puppy.

I never planned to adopt her but when she came in she was in such bad shape, we actually thought seh wouldnt make the night. I set up a cot in the isolation room and slept beside her kennel and promised her that I'd find her a home. At the time I thought her problem was simple mange, worms and dehydration. turned out, it was more than mange and no one wanted to adopt an allergy dog this severe. So Ikept my promise and gave her my home... and she is one of the best things to ever happen to me.

The third picture of Gigi looks a lot like one of our Lhasas. His name was Ginner and we would have him groomed since he didn't shed. Kind of a doggy haircut. Before him I had an abused stray that I named Lady. She was my first Lhasa and I was 20 at the time. The first time I tried to pet her she damn near bit me but we soon feel in love and I still miss her. Gigi and Hedy are adorable! Love that road trip pic! Thanks Lolli!!
