"Porn" Viewers in the EU may have to prove their age?

Hello everyone, i was wondering both users who view and cam if this will change anything going forward?

I've put it here as while Stripchat is mentioned, i assume most other cam sites will eventually be "forced" to follow.

Will this be a cause for concern for everyone especially if to access the sites as a user, you may have to verify yourself with photo id ect? It may be good for cammers as i assume it might cut down on the "greys" or people who dont intend to buy tokens/tip. On the other hand if a person has to verify themselves with photo id for every adult website, i could see how a number of people would stop using such sites due to privacy concerns or just in general.

Would be interested in everyones opinion as being a user depending on what type of proof i have to provide, i cant see it being a major problem but would be interesting to see if other users will not verify themselves.

I'm okay with this.

When i order alcohol on doordash, i have to scan my id into the app and show the driver my id too. They will record verifying id. When i buy alcohol in a store im carded when purchasing. With consuming/purchasing porn online all i have to is click "accept over 18" on a box. Adult stores card everyone on entry. How does this make sense??? Whats the big problem? Oh noooooo! pornhubs ad revenue!

People who have a problem with this arent purchasing porn. Actual pornsite members are already putting in their debit/credit card info and billing address. They shouldn't have a problem with scanning their ID. Some of them already do if they start spending too much. Porn transactions are considered high-risk because of high refunds. Its common for regs to apologize for being absent for time because they had to verify it was them purchasing.

I also feel if we adult performers have to upload id every 7 years, it's only fair you consumers have to verify with ID too.

I think it will turn some people away, simply because there are plenty of users who will spend time on a site before they actually spend any money, especially if they don't have any previous experience with cam sites. On the other hand it might lead to an overall increase in quality users as only the most serious users will go through the verification process.

for sure is going to change how people consume porn. especially the convenience. i imagine its gonna be a buzz killer having to scan/photograph and upload. who knows, maybe there will be an uptick in new member accounts to prevent having to ID everytime they wanna browse which can lead to more sales.

I can only echo what has already being said honestly

and as A user I wouldn't mind having to ID my accounts at all.. I think it's a healthy thing to be required, also to get people underaged away from the site as users.. it depends how they implement it though, because if they go with approach of it JUST being a EU thing and it being determined with IP.. I guess people will just use VPNs?

I think if it helps reduce the odds of visitors being under age, it’s worth a shot.

Then again, my most visited adult site already has my ID on file (primarily to confirm my purchases are not fraudulent, which I appreciate, but it also confirms I’m an adult). So I’m used to it.

I guess I can see it from a couple different perspectives, in terms of making money. On one hand, it makes sense that the biggest spenders are probably already used to providing ID. On the other hand, I’m sure non-spending visitors probably still represent a good chunk of revenue to the sites themselves, because they’re viewing ads, and also raising site traffic numbers (which are used to set ad rates… more traffic = higher ad rates).

But I have to think chasing away a percentage of free users who will not provide ID ultimately costs the sites (and the industry) less than a potential legal flare-up would, if they were accused of not doing enough to ensure visitors were 18+.
