hey y'all

a friend of mine wants to start camming and found a good deal on a webcam

the description is as follows:

"Logitech Brio 100 Full HD 1080p Webcam for Meetings and Streaming, Auto-Light Balance, Built-in Mic, Privacy Shutter, USB-A, for Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Zoom and More"

I know Brio is a brand recommended, just wondering if this would be a good way to start looking professional with cam clarity etc straight out the gate with this particular model, ideally not having to upgrade right away as where she lives shipping is expensive? she found it online half off regular price so if some folks here give me the ok to rec it I'll pass that on to her promptly. she will be planning on working Chaturbate to start, if that is relevant in any way

thanks for reading and in advance for any input (good or bad) provided

hope everyone is doing awesome

I use the Brio. It has a bit of a learning curve as far as getting the settings just right but once you know, you know. It's the only low-end webcam I know of that has 60 FPS capabilities with great internet.

thank you Vixxen

You're welcome. I highly, highly recommend getting the video perfect through the Logi Tune software and then fine-tuning anything kind of wonky through the OBS Video Capture --> Right Click "Filters". It's been a long time since I set everything, I can't remember if the filters setting was something I had to add to the video capture.

I second this! lol Brio is good. I have the 4k one. (I stream in 1080p anyways though lol) It has a super wide 90 degree FOV that I kind of use as a quick zoom. I love the microphone on it too. Whenever the autofocus gets stuck I just put my foot or hand directly in front of it for a quick sec. My only complain is that no one has made a plugin for it on the stream deck.

Read carefully it's not the brio you think it is.

Edit: I have no experience with this webcam
Oooohhh lol oops. For some reason I thought it was just the 1080p version of mine. Yeah scratch that. I'm going to be honest, I looked it up and found its only 2 MP and 30 fps. It's probably more similar to a cheap laptop webcam.

I don't recommend this one. This thing is a potato.

The previous posts have been about the more popular Brio which is 4k. I doubt the 100 is going to perform very well.

Logitech is the brand, which IS recommended for camming. But I don't think the reviews earlier in this thread were for this low-end of a model.

For something closer to that price range I'd suggest going with a Logitech c920, which also has good stereo mic

edit: I think it's like a decade old now but I made a post reviewing my logitech cams a while back https://www.ambercutie.com/forums/threads/logitech-webcams.25698/#post-782462

y'all rock so hard, immense thanks. hope this will encourage her to create an account here, as this place is helping her before she even gets started

let her know the one she was looking at isn't a long term solution. she's willing to up the budget a bit as again, shipping expensive in where she and I are both at but def not able to swing the cost of a 4K right now

I actually use a c920, a really old one I bought almost 20 years ago lol. suspect maybe the specs have improved on the model since then

guessing I could buy myself a new cam (need to upgrade at some point) and just give her this one. it's perfectly fine with decent lighting and she already got her ring light. when she starts making US dollaz she can decide what she wants to buy without the same financial constraints

so I can upgrade to Brio 4k based on the recs here (upgrading my own cam was on a list of 'do one day down the road' things') and her problem solved, unless anyone has any other suggestions. she's on a tight budget to start so I think this makes sense?

thank you all SO much again. love and gratitude

If her phone has a decent camera, then I would personally recommend using that, the quality of modern phone camera's is better than you'll get out of a webcam imo (I know a couple of models on cb that I thought were using dslr's and turns out it's their iphone). you just download an app to the phone and an app to the pc and the phones cameras show up as webcams.

Camo is one of the apps that works on android and IOS which is really good.

ETA: There are some drawbacks though, after like 5 years of using mine heavily to cam, the battery life is reduced by quite a lot, still get most of a day out of it unless I am using it heavily, but multiple hours camming, the heat and being plugged in does degrade the battery quicker than it normally would.... the days of being able to just buy a new battery and pop it in without having to un-glue the screen would be really nice about now 😂

no way. why is this a not more-discussed option!?!

laughing as a topic/question I raised actually asking for a friend I've now made all about me, but wow this whole thread of input is so helpful

based on the above:

I'm gonna give her my c920, buy myself a Brio 4k and look into that Camo thing as my phone has the best cam I've ever experienced. wouldn't work for shows as I change angles a lot (battery life not an issue in indy and anyone who cams for hours straight deserves a medal for patience and tenacity) but for shooting content? oh my, oh yes

thank you all so much. she was blown away (as am I) by how quickly and insightfully peeps here were ready to jump in to help a stranger they don't know who hasn't even started camming yet. really hope she joins, this space is such a valuable resource

gracias again from us both. much love

it's actually amazing for changing angles because you can connect over wifi so no cables, just unplug the charger if it's plugged in and pick it up

I use another app called parsec which gives me a remote display, so I don't have to log off stripchat if I go to make a coffee, just grab the phone, and the screen is then a mirror of my monitor and the cameras a wireless webcam.

will be checking this Camo thing out tomorrow, meant to do it today but IRL got in the way. thank you so much Marti, crazy helpful. same goes for every cammer here who weighed in

have wicked nights each and every one of you

Been using the Logitech 96000 streamcam for client meetings and sales. It’s pretty durable. It has a decent microphone too. What it doesn’t have is an ability to pan, tilt, or zoom.
It is also not easy to use with a Mac, or maybe I’m just a technophobe:)
Take me with a grain of salt, because I never had to earn tips or tokens with it, but I did land some respectable job offers after interviewing with it. Whatever you do, the laptop camera is as worst as it can ever get:)
