I used to love going to Wendy’s for either chicken nuggets with sweet and sour sauce, or the Dave's burger. But I've been turned off from the one here in my neighborhood...after seeing an employee sweeping, and then putting down the broom and dustpan to go handle the food without washing her hands...and with no gloves on.

The menu is pretty simple BUT people can order things in any combination they want. The wait staff calls out the items and the amount to pull for the grill. Waffle House has a ton of stereotypes about it (put all of the waitresses together and you'll get a full set of teeth kind of stuff) but the truth is they really have to carry around a lot of info to get through a shift and it's pretty neat to me!

Running an open kitchen with the cooks having zero order tickets to work from never ceases to amaze me.
Plus, if you are in the south and need to judge the severity of a storm, the Waffle House Index is real and valid

Especially during breakfast when every elderly person seems to appear out of thin air? Hells yeah! I also like the new system they have -- cooks and staff have shirts that say how much food they've cooked/sold. Oh and they also serve as a weather vane. If a store is closed that means the town has zero electricity and you should stay out of the area. WH's never close unless it's a disaster.

How long does it typically take to walk 1 block?
Here in my small town, we have a KFC, Burger King and McDonalds all next to each other, but the opposite end of the town from where I live, on the outskirts near a roundabout and main motorway, which is about 45 minutes walk, and that's me going at my "faster than normal person" pace. I don't walk that, even in nice weather - and i sure as hell don't pay for all the extra charges for delivery. Never worth it.
The burgers are terrible, i prefer to order from a local kebab house with pizza and burger, the flame grilled burgers are always delicious and juicy. I just wish I knew how to make my own flame grtilled burgers at home easily.
As I hit post I was like Amber is gonna put me in the doghouse.I love that you keep emphasizing this part
