Say what you want about the British but we know how to throw a party!!

Yesterdays River Pagent was pretty good but tonights concert has been amazing and has showcased some of the best of British, and erm Stevie Wonder, It amazes me quite how patriotic we are as a Nation when even in this day and age people come out in the millions onto The Mall to celebrate 60 years of Queen Elizebeth the 2nd's largely ceremonial reign. As a national and internation figurehead for The United Kingdom she is awesome

Hopefully a brilliant start to the summer with the Olympics around the corner!

God Save The Queen :handgestures-salute:

Y'all sure do things a bit different over there.

I didn't realize it was her Diamond at the time, but while going through some of my nan's letters a few weeks ago (lost her mid-April), I came across a letter from the Queen's Silver Jubilee. I believe it was thanking her for attending. Fascinated me that my grandmother would have an official letter from the palace.
I should ask my mom if I can keep that one.

So glad someone made a thread about this. Even as an Irish person with ancestors who struggled for 800+ years to get rid of the union jack/monarchy from the country I was more than impressed with the celebrations - glued to the tv all weekend in fact. It was a wonderful 3 days - the flotilla of boats on the Thames was incredible, the show that night with the acts from around the world (all the wonderful horses - especially the French horse whisperer) was spectacular and although some of the singers at the concert last night were a little questionable (Cheryl should just give up and Cliff Richard!?! - there was no need for those hip movements), it was a wonderful show. Really brilliantly patriotic weekend!

And since I live in Scotland and got the bank holiday - thanks to her majesty for the days off ;)

Yeah to the extra hols :handgestures-salute: One point of Monday nights concert which had me smiling though was Grace Jones Hula hooping like a 14 year old through Slave To The Rhythm... and not missing a beat. Not bad for a 64 year old huh?

She was ridiculous! I couldnt listen to her but when she was on mute I was transfixed by the hula hooping! And yeah at 64 she is beyond incredible - cant believe she manged to keep going without dropping it once. I actually think most 14 year old's would struggle to keep up!

Also how good was Alfie Boe and Madness as well!?! And my crush on Robbie continues after last night....
