he greatest movie ever? I know its a bit of a obvious choice bit I can't fault it. its an absolute masterpiece

The scene where Brooks comes out of prison on parole only to kill himself when he can't keep up with modern life is breathtakingly well written and executed

but to be fair anything with Morgan Freeman in it already has a head start on other movies

I saw that movie at the theater not having seen any previews, not knowing at all anything about it...and OMG I left the theater with some puffed up teary eyes. I still watch it whenever it happens to be on, and I cry every time.

I'm not one for watching movies again and again but the two notable exceptions, Christmas ones aside are Shawshank and Anchorman

I just watched! (I'm guessing you did too). It's definitely one of the best films ever.

This happens to be the only movie that I've ever purchased on DVD. It's my absolute favorite movie and I probably watch it once or twice a month. If for nothing else, it's excellent background noise when I'm working on something else. I love it.

I recommend buying the special edition dvd that has lots of bonus features, including a long interview with Tim Robbins, Morgan Freeman, and Frank Darabont.
