Hufflepuff/Horned Serpent with a Deerhound Patronus. Hufflepuff has the best common room and location: cozy, full of plants, and right near the kitchens for convenient snacking.

It me.

I always thought I was Hufflepuff. Turns out I'm not, I'm Gryffindor. Grrr can't edit the poll.

My patronus is a doe. Which gave me chills. My grandfather used to call me doe because of my big eyes.

My wand is a sycamore wood with a Phoenix feather core.10" in length and brittle flexibility.

I blindly took the Ilvermorny house sorting quiz. I'm in Wampus. Now I need to read up on this school. Apparently it is the American wizardry school? Lol so much lore I need to catch up on and I just finished rereading the series to The Cursed Child. Yay!

House: Gryffindor
Patronus: Dun Mare
Wand: Rowan wood with a dragon heartstring core, 13" and solid flexibility

It's been a while since I've watched any of the movies, and haven't read the books yet.

People other than myself think this sounds like this description of a wand that belongs in porn too right?

DP but did anyone else do the Patronus thing? Mines a husky. Which is fitting since I'm the crazy dog lady.
Yay! Gryffindor here! We can be crazy Patronus dog ladies together! I don't own a plushy pup but I have other types and a cat who likes to go on walks with a leash and play fetch!
I'm supposed to be a snarky Ravenclaw.)
Same Idk. I guess we're brave and sassy bookworms.
I've so wanted to read this for a while now. ^.^
My preferred method of sorting is not actually a quiz, but rather a personality self-analysis system created by the Sorting Hat Chats tumblr.
Cool breakdown! I looked at this and I'd likely be a Gryffindor primary and Ravenclaw secondary. I believe we can all see a bit of ourselves in all of them though.

As for methods...though I completely agree with you in regards to it being more in depth, I feel that a number of characters would be in different houses had they not emphasized to the hat that they strongly wanted to be in another house. The analysis seems very accurate for personality but I think in a way the Pottermore quiz might be closer to what the person would get sorted into with that in how they are versus how they want to display themselves.

Examples:
Harry nearly got sorted into Slytherin but said he wanted Gryffindor.

Pettigrew I feel was sorted there instead of Slytherin because he felt he could use people like his Maurader friend's statuses since they were so popular.

Percy Weasley should have too most likely. I figure he got into Gryffindor because of his entire family (including parents) being sorted into it. Him being ambitious as prefect, head boy and later going as far as to disown his family to look good in the ministry's eyes.

Fred Weasley: "Ministry-loving, family-disowning, power-hungry moron."

@Ann_Sulu you absolutely should read HPMOR as soon as you have a chance. It's incredible. And then talk to me about it, and rationality :D

Also I recently had a serious revelation re: my houses and sortinghatchats. I've considered myself a Slytherin primary for upwards of 2 years and am FINALLY realizing that I am actually a burned Hufflepuff primary. When I had that epiphany, it hit me like a brick wall tbh. On that note, is there any way to edit my poll response or am I stuck as a Slytherin in the tally?

@Siren I have gotten to about chapter 20 and it's cute for sure.

Seems my favorite character got pushed out though. Sorry Ron. Loved his take charge attitude in the books along with his well timed humor. Unfortunately he didn't get that in the films.

Harry and Heromione become a bit much when together but I do love how Harry works through everything.

:haha:

Pettigrew I feel was sorted there instead of Slytherin because he felt he could use people like his Maurader friend's statuses since they were so popular.

I read a theory that I quite liked that suggested Pettigrew was a Gryffindor because he was obsessed with bravery and held it as a very important value. He just never developed any in the end. The hat includes your values as well as what you are.

@MollyMidnight oh yes! I certainly wouldn't discount values. I don't believe that it would be likely for one to wind up in a completely "value-opposite" house. It would at least make sure they got something out of it.

For instance it makes sense for Percy Weasley since he is a control freak. He would likely have seen it nearly as natural law for him to wind up in his family's traditional house of Gryffindor. I don't pin him as so much brave as thinking things in very black and white terms to the point of blinding himself of anything that didn't seem to give him leverage. I don't think he would have been bothered by how the students in that house did things so much as anyone else who bothered him.

However, I can see how if a non-slytherin accidentally got plopped into the more manipulative house (opposite of that specific person's values) they would have issues. I imagine one in that circumstance would become neurotic pretty quickly when they start to feel they don't quite fit in while swimming with the school of sharks.
