video/video editing help!

Hello!
I'm kind of new to videos and video editing so i was hoping i could ask for some opinions, what video editing software works best?
like i said, i'm kind of new to editing and such so i'm kind of looking for a simple one, something easy to use for a semi-beginner

Personally, I've always used Windows Movie Maker. It's the most basic, simple video editor you can get, it's super easy to use, and can handle HD video easily. It's free/pre-installed on Windows computers as well, which makes it even better, haha. I *could* go spend upwards of $200+ on a fancy video editor, but don't see a need to. The only thing I would recommend to use along with it is the Any Video Converter (this is also free) to convert the .wmv file into a more user-friendly .mp4 after rendering.

If you're a Mac user, I believe the equivalent is iMovie, but I don't have any personal experience with it.

It's basically a free one with a few extra bells and whistles. But it will export to other formats directly, like mp4. So you don't have to convert after.
