What was the first Adult Magazine you bought, and why?

I was going to ask what was your first Playboy, but realised that not everyone necessarily was interested in purely nekked females.

Anyway, for me, it wasn't a simple case of walking into a shop and buying the first adult mag I took a liking to. My fascination started with finding an American Playboy at age 15, hidden in local park (no thoughts about where it had come from, just pure joy).

It served me well for the next couple of years. It was also during this period that I was a huge Madonna fan, so when her pictures where published, I summoned the courage to buy the September 1997 Australian Playboy.

The Madonna pictures were alright, but the best thing was discovering the Playmate of the month, a pint sized Aussie by the name of Shannon Long.

This also began my obsession with this mag, much to my fathers delight.

I've never actually bought an adult magazine. I was lucky to have hit puberty in the 90's and had been on BBS's in the early 90's and the internet itself around late '94 or early '95 (the memory is foggy on this).

I did collect random pages found strewn about in woods and train tracks in the late 80's and early 90's though; to supplement the daily single jpegs I would spend hours to download a day. I'm sure everyone born before the 80's remembers the ever-present constant adult mags for some reason always stashed away somewhere in every single forested urban area in North America, waiting like hidden treasures to be found.

It's bizarre, I think every man born before the 80's experienced memories like this.

As for first Adult Mag I bought... it was a Playboy when I turned 19. Playboy was always my magazine of choice considering I went through puberty with them... never Hustler or Penthouse or anything else. Always seemed more classy to me.

back in the day friends and I had figured out when the local drug store got new mags in and the day they tossed em in the trash. We would hop in the bins when no one was looking, fish out the magazines, and scamper off and look at naked ladies. Each of us would take home what we wanted, I always grabbed the Playboy. I didn't do this for long, however, only a year or two when I was in my early teens.
when I turned 19, I purchased the magazines from stores where no one knew me haha... no computer, no internet, no video store (well, I didn't really want to rent xxx movies from the local vid store and having people who knew me think I was a perv!)... magazines is what I had for 'me time'

I really got the hookup when I was a young teen. I had a couple of friends who bought, sold, and traded dirty magazines as a sort of black-market business at school, so I ended up with stacks of Playboys, Penthouses, and Hustlers. Mostly Playboys, of course. 1993 is still my favorite year for that particular publication. Anna Nicole Smith was the Playmate of the Year that year. Most people remember her as either a joke or a tragedy these days, but she was seriously a mind-blowing beauty twenty years ago. Between her and former Barker's Beauty, Diane Parkinson, and those Brazilian triplets, I was in masturbatory heaven in 1993. The first Playboy I got my hands on was February 1992. I think it was my brother's before I stole it (and then my dad found it in under the bathroom counter, where I had hidden it. Actually still a really sexy cover.



And as to the phenomenon of finding porn in forested areas, I'll say that I was a contributor to that particular social trope. After my dad found my first Playboy, I took my operation into the woods, where I was safe from being caught by all but bears.

Penthouse, can't remember the date or issue but it's on the bookshelf in my bedroom so I could probably find it later if I felt like it.

I needed something to read at work, it was marked down to $3, so I bought it. There wasn't really any thought to it aside from the fact that I didn't want to keep staring at the wall and only had $5 in cash on me at the time. I bought it a couple months after my 18th birthday.

Technically mine wasn't a magazine, it was a subscription.

I had thought about it before I turned 18 and decided I'd rather not be paying monthly for a magazine. So the day of my birthday I went and got myself a P.O. Box and mailed off $300 to Playboy for a lifetime subscription. I hear it's around $500 today.

I think I remember figuring at about the six and a half year mark I was at the break even point versus buying them at the news stands. They were $4 per magazine back then, if I remember right. So for the last 20 or so years, even with the price increases, I've been getting them mailed to me basically for free. All I have to remember is to mail them a change of address card every time i move.

I bought my one and only Playboy in 2003. I was 18 years old and a freshman in college. Buying a Playboy magazine, in my mind, was something you see young guys do in those teenage comedies out at the time. I bought it, looked at it for a few minutes, and I tossed it in the trash. To give more of an idea of how popular she was, she was on playboy two or three times .. And every time, no matter how many magazines Playboy pressed that month, they sold out. She got the second most popular playboy edition in Brazil AFAIK, losing only to another 'character' from the same show (called 'Feiticeira' - look up Joana Prado if curious).


And for my first one.. It was Andrea Sorvetao in 1995... Dunno why - she was hot, was a dancer/helper in a show I grew up watching (exactly when hormones were going crazy).. So when she was on playboy, I thought why not. I got a subscription a few months later, which made me very popular among my friends back then.. Which reminds me I should cancel that subscription - too lazy to deal with the 'retention' department.
