I love cheddar cheese. Today, I bought cheddar cheese, opened the package as soon as I got home and it had mold on one side. Conveniently covered by the wrapper.

This is the fourth block of cheddar cheese to be defective in some way. First two times, mold. Third, dried out and brick hard. Fourth, mold. From three different stores. One of which has epic safety standards, btw.

Clearly it's a manufacturer issue and this is why they will be receiving a polite email from me later today. I want them to know there is an issue and that I've thrown out $20 worth of cheese. They'll send me coupons and never think of it again.

Have you ever complained to a manufacturer over a product? Which product? What was the resolution?

Normal procedure here, Denmark, would be to go back to the store where I bought the cheese, they will then reimburse me or replace the cheese. What they do from there concerning the manufacturer is not my problem, I suspect that if it is a one-off they will cver the loss themselves, but if it is reaccuring they will take it up with the manufacturer. I have done this a few times.

Bottomline my business is with the store, not the manufacturer

I did that the first time and it was such a pain the ass it was easier to just be mad about moldy cheese and eat the cost. But this is clearly a manufacturing problem and the sites have a way to report issues.

I received free Ben and Jerry'a ice cream coupons when I sent an opinion about their newest pretzel flavor.

Four blocks is so many 🥲 this gave me war flashbacks to the time I opened some milk I just bought from the store and it looked like cottage cheese. And I was mid-macaroni stirring. Whipping cream can be used as a milk substitute i discovered that day but it makes the noodles a bit sweet.

Write all the rage into chatgpt and it's content filter will re-word it as a polite email 😂

I complained to AmberLeaf (uk tobacco company) when I found chewed chewing gum in my tobacco... their response was basically sucks to be you, never bothered since then 😂

yep, I was at least hoping to get a replacement pouch, but nope, just a big FU. I wish I could say it was the last time I bought that brand but it probably wasnt, although realistically the chances of that happening once are pretty small, so it would probably never happen twice, still pretty disgusting though.

If I complain about a product, I usually do it at the point of service. But there was one time I went straight to the manufacturer because I felt it was a safety issue.

In my younger days I would buy those microwaveable, frozen TV dinners. One specific brand had an issue where the frozen French fries would begin smoking within seconds of the microwave starting. They’d have black burn marks on the outside of the fries in less than 30 seconds. If I stood at the microwave long enough, sometimes I’d see the beginnings of a small spark/flame on the fries.

I complained to the manufacturer because I was worried there may have been small traces of metal left in the fries from the manufacturing process. It’s the only reason I could think of for a frozen product to begin smoking and burning within seconds in a microwave. They never got back to me.

It's like The World According to Garp....plane crashes into the house -- buy it! The chances of it happening again are astronomical!
