I love cheddar cheese. Today, I bought cheddar cheese, opened the package as soon as I got home and it had mold on one side. Conveniently covered by the wrapper.

This is the fourth block of cheddar cheese to be defective in some way. First two times, mold. Third, dried out and brick hard. Fourth, mold. From three different stores. One of which has epic safety standards, btw.

Clearly it's a manufacturer issue and this is why they will be receiving a polite email from me later today. I want them to know there is an issue and that I've thrown out $20 worth of cheese. They'll send me coupons and never think of it again.

Have you ever complained to a manufacturer over a product? Which product? What was the resolution?

Normal procedure here, Denmark, would be to go back to the store where I bought the cheese, they will then reimburse me or replace the cheese. What they do from there concerning the manufacturer is not my problem, I suspect that if it is a one-off they will cver the loss themselves, but if it is reaccuring they will take it up with the manufacturer. I have done this a few times.

Bottomline my business is with the store, not the manufacturer

I did that the first time and it was such a pain the ass it was easier to just be mad about moldy cheese and eat the cost. But this is clearly a manufacturing problem and the sites have a way to report issues.

I received free Ben and Jerry'a ice cream coupons when I sent an opinion about their newest pretzel flavor.

Four blocks is so many 🥲 this gave me war flashbacks to the time I opened some milk I just bought from the store and it looked like cottage cheese. And I was mid-macaroni stirring. Whipping cream can be used as a milk substitute i discovered that day but it makes the noodles a bit sweet.

Write all the rage into chatgpt and it's content filter will re-word it as a polite email 😂

I complained to AmberLeaf (uk tobacco company) when I found chewed chewing gum in my tobacco... their response was basically sucks to be you, never bothered since then 😂

Oh nasty!! Never had anything that bad.

yep, I was at least hoping to get a replacement pouch, but nope, just a big FU. I wish I could say it was the last time I bought that brand but it probably wasnt, although realistically the chances of that happening once are pretty small, so it would probably never happen twice, still pretty disgusting though.

If I complain about a product, I usually do it at the point of service. But there was one time I went straight to the manufacturer because I felt it was a safety issue.

In my younger days I would buy those microwaveable, frozen TV dinners. One specific brand had an issue where the frozen French fries would begin smoking within seconds of the microwave starting. They’d have black burn marks on the outside of the fries in less than 30 seconds. If I stood at the microwave long enough, sometimes I’d see the beginnings of a small spark/flame on the fries.

I complained to the manufacturer because I was worried there may have been small traces of metal left in the fries from the manufacturing process. It’s the only reason I could think of for a frozen product to begin smoking and burning within seconds in a microwave. They never got back to me.

It's like The World According to Garp....plane crashes into the house -- buy it! The chances of it happening again are astronomical!

I’ve only done the opposite once - when I was about 12 I bought a KitKat chocolate bar and instead of having wafer inside it was all milk chocolate. It was delicious.

I wrote Nestlé UK a letter telling them about it, detailing how much better it was than the normal KitKat chocolate wafer bar.

They eventually wrote back and said they had no plans to make it all milk chocolate but still sent me a £5 gift voucher for WH Smith’s (shop) as an apology and a thank you for the suggestion.

I once had a bunch of not-ground-up-bugs in my hair dye (Vegan brand), so I emailed them with pictures- they promised to replace it with 6 months worth of product, asked for my address and everything. I never received it.

Interesting, never knew such a product existed, also slightly confused on how it could be vegan if made with bugs? Or were the bugs an added bonus because the dye was made from vegetables/plants?

I guess bugs is the wrong word to describe it LOL- but like little tiny black seeds/shells/round objects were in there. So strange! Still so sad they never correctly rectified the situation! It's my all time favorite dye and only one I use in my hair since it lasts so long. It can be so hard to find odd colors that last more than a few weeks.

If there's a difference between venting and complaining.... then nope, I have never complained tho I found myself in such context I'm build different...
I'm orientated towards find solutions rather than just complain, it is an useful aspect frequently active in "Emperor" archetype.
Specifically for products... never, I always buy the best I can afford... there's a saying.... "I'm too poor to buy cheap crappy stuff" and I do understand the meaning.
Services... well, some services involve human interaction on a deeper, wider or extensive level and even if it happens to be disappointed, I do understand that human nature is as it is and I can't judge that... With other words, I don't have specific expectations from my fellow humans therefore I can't be disappointed, ergo, no complaining.

Venting on the other hand, it is something different in my book (so to speak) ... I don't have to agree with people all the time but because I understand "from where that comes from" I kind of "let it go" and express my energy in a way which doesn't hurt their Ego nor pushes mine under the hammer...
We experience a reality where truth must be silenced in order to accommodate another individual's personal feelings, to hold the space for their personality, affirmation, validations, even insecurities... but I tend to stay away from those circumstances... I'm way too old for that bs.

For the first time in my entire adult life, I ate a meal at a restaurant and did not leave a tip.

Was sat by the bar and served by the bartender. Who was way more interested in over serving four patrons at the bar who were talking so loud at each other across the bar no one else could have a conversation and it was 2 pm.

She forgot to put in the food order, so for 30 agonizing minutes I'm listening to these fools talk about how they scam for drinks at other places.

The bartender complained about having to being me mayonaise. She asked if I wanted a drink refill, I said yes. Watched her fill a bar shaker tumbler (metal) with my Coke then she let it sit for five minutes.

People still LOUDLY talking to the point even the music was being drowned out.

Hubby is literally taking a bite out of his hamburger when she stops by and I asked for the check. She asked if I wanted boxes, yes. Five minutes later...look I'm literally at the table that is by the station stocked with this stuff.. I get the box. All the while being pounded in my ear by these loud, cackling people who think everything is hilarious BECAUSE THEY ARE DRUNK AT 2 PM. Doing shots of tequila, at least four rounds, and PBR draught beers -- 18 ounce glasses.

Look, I love to party. I used to party at bars. But you keep it respectable and at a conversation level, not trapped in a helicopter without headsets level of noise.

But the part that sealed her fate? She suddenly became attentive when it dawned on her, "these people have money and I want a tip."

She got the triple zero and a note to get it from the bar. Will never go back. Ever.

Petty? You betcha. But money is tight and it can take 6 or more hours to earn what I spent on lunch today.
