My name is Kiki, I'm a model on a Chaturbate, room name is little_poetry. For last 2 days I have the same problem as Hotfallingdevil (i've seen her thread once i visited this site). I'm not listed on a home page, only guests can see my room on a top of homepage. Registred users finding me on 30+ pages even tho I have 3-5k viewers. This is a huge problem for me I dont know why it happened, CB support doesn't answering me so I decided to state my problem here. I hope someone here can help me, because its really frustraiting knowing that you got shadow banned, but dont know the reason..

I can't give you a definitive answer on this, but I can tell you what people are saying on a different forum where there is a thread dedicated to your Chaturbate room.

Initially, the rumour appeared to be that you had been shadow-banned for indulging in some sort of 'daddy' role play that may have come close to breaking Chaturbate's Terms & Conditions.

This didn't make much sense though. If you break the Chaturbate Terms & Conditions they give you a (temporary) ban, not a shadow ban.

The people on the forum batted that idea around for a while... but then someone with tech knowledge came along and explained that there probably is no shadow-ban.

According to this guy, Chaturbate is currently running an A/B test on a new user interface. Some users are being shown the old interface (A), on which you appear close to the top of the first page as usual. Some users are being shown a new interface (B) on which you may or may not appear. The rooms on the B version of the interface are being sorted by something other than room popularity -- possibly algorithmically or AI-assisted.

I don't know if that's right, but thought it might be helpful to know there is an alternative explanation to a 'shadow-ban'.

Hi Kiki, how are you? I saw what happened to your show this 2 days, so i did some research, for what i found, most say Is because of a change in the algorithm causes this changes in the rooms, another answer i found mention a thing that could be, but this Is my opinion, Is the # of your room, maybe the #new, i don't know how that works and how the site consideres a room new. Maybe one of those could be causing it, i will try to keep looking and see if i can found more answers. I hope this works

I believe CB has broken their algorithm. In the last couple days there have been rooms on my main page that don’t make sense. Also room ranking doesn’t make sense. How can the number 2 room have 1/10th the users of the number 1 and 3 rooms? My current first page has 5 rooms with less than 100 users spread throughout the page. Not promoted rooms. They are mixed in next to rooms with 1000+ users. I think they tweaked something in the algorithm that may be related to why you are not showing up on the main page. But this is just a guess.

Hello Kiki,

I’d advise you to avoid using the word “shadowban” when contacting support, as it can sometimes lead to your request being ignored or deprioritized.

Also, this might not be the cause, but I’ve noticed that you sometimes ask the chat to spam a number during countdowns. It’s possible that Chaturbate’s algorithm flagged that as unnatural engagement.


I know it’s not a lot, but I hope it helps in some way.

I think this is CB's way to fight generated traffic.
High traffic should indicate you're good while a low satisfaction score indicates your not so good, and that just don't make sense.

Some rooms on the main page are based on your previous search actions , visited rooms etc.
I like it because it will give smaller rooms the change to get noticed.

I think its highly unlikely to be satisfaction score related, that would be really weird to do because anonymous are the first impressions why would you want to subject them to a model with a potentially low satisfaction score?

I have family visiting right now so I cant dedicate time to really dig into this but if you see the situation please DM me the username its happening to (while its happening) and perhaps the viewers region that needs to dig so deep to find you and perhaps the models region.

If a user is logged in and folllows, page 30+
If a user is logged in, used to follow but now does not follow, near the top of page 1
If a user is logged in, has never followed, page 30+

I agree. That's a nasty thing done by Instagram and Twitter.

I know you know this, so just saying this for the people in the back of the room.

If a broadcaster or user has violated TOS, they receive a warning or their stream is immediately stopped and the room is banned.

Everything else probably points at the super secret special sauce algorithm. Or stream issues.

I followed two of the male rooms on the front page and could not replicate it.

Doubt it, if they were going to do that it would impact some users and not other users, doing a few models instead has way more risk of being seen as unfair treatment which they try to avoid. I don't know what they were trying to accomplish but something tells me they accidentally did it wrong. I have a ticket that's escalated very high I've attempted to reply to that ticket with the information presented in this thread but it's like a month old so not sure it will work.

Thank you for writing in! We're happy to look into this for you. We show the broadcaster's settings were correct to appear on the homepage for logged in users. There are no restrictions in place that would impact your ability to see the broadcaster on the homepage. We did note that the broadcaster was active in a hidden show within a few minutes of your screenshots - when broadcasters are in hidden shows, they don't appear on the homepage. Sometimes it takes a few minutes for the thumbnail to be removed from the homepage or be re-added when a broadcaster begins or ends a hidden or private show. It's possible what you were seeing was caused by this type of delay.

During the broadcaster's next stream, after 10-15 minutes, can you check the homepage while logged in to see if the thumbnail appears? If not, can you send us another set of screenshots, including the date/time showing on your computer? That will help us narrow down our search.

Of course, the hidden show is not the reason, as I checked multiple times during her show, as did other members.

I just want to say, whilst I initially noticed this with Little_Poetry, it is far from just this room / account.
However, I have looked and looked and looked (you get the point) today to provide specific other accounts...I could not find one...always the way! haha
Two of the rooms I found who also seem to be effected yesterday was enna__miller and Honey_bunny_96 - Sorry I cannot remember more of the rooms. Both are offline today.

That it won't work for anon's is because it's build in the same algorithm that also gives you your recommended rooms.

satisfaction score impacts anonymous position too, li dont see any models with the issue online right now but yesterday there was someone with a 99 satisfaction rating with the same issue.

Edit: actually i do see what you are saying now, it looks like satisfaction score isnt applying to anon right now or the API, but following vs not following does not impact it so its not the same issue I dont think or perhaps its a glitch related to the change?

I've seen this issue with a few models I follow in the past week. One of the models is online right now. While logged out, I see her toward the bottom of page 1. When I log in, she's on page 33. The other model was ranked #5 overall when she was online a few nights ago. But I couldn't find her when logged in. I noticed both girls were listed dead last on my follow list. And neither had their satisfaction score visible.

Lots of viewers, not logged in she is page 1. Logged in she is page 30+. Apparently she wrote to support and they said there's no issue. 96% satisfaction score.

There was so many topics of girls who were complaining for sudden drop of users or being moved to further pages, but nobody cared and most answers was like: no, cb is not shadowbanning, move on and bye bye And suport answers was like: check your internet, check your bandwith, promote yourself on social medias. Because who will care for girls who are not on 1st page. I really hope that this topic will help detect the issues which are affecting more rooms and something will be done wirth this for all of us.

There are maybe three issues here and it's usually best to separate them:

1. A model's site ranking dropping when their satisfaction score falls below 95%.
2. A model's site ranking dropping when their satisfaction score is above 95%.
3. The site rankings being inconsistent depending whether you're logged in or not.

#1 seems to be how CB is supposed to work. I've experienced it with a couple of models, and in one case she was able to get back over 95% (a combination of regular thumbs up and the bulk of thumbs down expiring) and her site ranking returned to normal. I personally don't like the way it works, but it is what it is.

#2 worries me if it's happening. To the comment from @Iluvablow69 above, I can't see thecherie's satisfaction score, but the site ranking of a model I follow seems to have dropped and she has a satisfaction score above 95% so it very likely could be happening to others. It would be good to document other cases if there are any.

#3 seems like a bug in the way CB calculates the site view for anonymous viewers, probably because they're trying to save on computation and caching, but they probably oversimplified the algorithm. There's probably a subroutine that applies exceptions to the vanilla site listing like who you follow, who has banned you, who is being promoted, rooms you recently visited that CB wants to give you a second look at, and, of course, satisfactions score. If those are all lumped into one subroutine and CB bypasses it when generating the anonymous view for the site then it could easily explain this. But keep in mind that while consistency would be nice, this is a bug that seems to benefit model's whose satisfaction score has dropped, so it's actually the other models who should be upset.

So the API is giving you the same view as being logged out?
