Hopefully this won't be like the DoorDash feature where it claims I have the option to enable or disable the 4-digit PIN feature (requires a 4-digit PIN in order to receive your food), yet when I disable it, the button still slides over to enable it anyway. Lol. Like okay, if you're gonna force me to use the PIN feature, don't act like it's optional. :p

I like the idea of Uber giving female passengers the option to only accept female drivers. :) But I think it should be just that...an optional feature...not a requirement. Depending on my mood...sometimes I prefer dealing with a man in a customer service role if he's friendly without prying in my personal business. I don't like being in customer service situations where I wind up with some woman who feels the need to make a snarky remark. Lol. Like I don't enjoy interacting with people who feel the need to judge me for being my age and not having a car. Anytime I hear that, it's almost always women. The nosey busybodies can be annoying. Lol. I wound up in a conversation like that last week with a woman while I was out walking the track for an hour. And then she was in my business asking me where do I go to get my hair done, because she does hair. *Sigh* Lol.

On the other hand, there are times when I just want to get from point A to point B without having to deal with men and their shit. LOL. I've had a Lyft driver ask me for my phone number a few years ago, which was uncomfortable. And I've had one or two male Uber drivers laugh at me because I check the license plate number before getting into a vehicle (and of course I had words for them, because I didn't appreciate that...).
If it helps any, I don't own a car either. It's been 8 years since mine got stolen, but even before that, it was stupid for me to own a car.

I live in a big city, there's no parking, and it's crazy easy to get massive fines for parking in the wrong place. Plus I'd have to pay gas, insurance, and random expensive as fuck registration fees.
And on top of that I'm terrible with paperwork, dead lines, remembering to keep things current.

I honestly love not owning one. I was constantly stressing about needing this, that, new tires, maintenance work, when I had one.
They are a huge money sink!
I've always known that cars pretty much depreciate in value, like boats. You drive a car off the lot, even a brand new one, and you immediately start losing money.
Unless you plan on holding on to one for 100 years, it's never going to go up in value, it's always going to go down.
Not sure how many people know that, because if they did, they might think it more strange to own a car, rather than not own one.

I get why people in rural areas have them, but for city dwellers, it doesn't always make the same sense to me.

I’m so happy that I got to see meteor showers (a.k.a. “shooting stars”) last night!

In a little while, I’m gonna go out on the deck (I’m staying in an Airbnb), and lay back and look up to wait and watch for more, since they’re active until August.

If you go out just after sunset for the first half hour or so you may also see satellites. They are high enough to still be sunlit and are easy to distinguish, they move slowly but steadily across the sky. Very cool 🌛

The ISS can often be seen by the naked eye too, with the solar array reflecting sunlight really well.
NASA has a website and an app that shows when it will be visible from any particular locations: https://www.nasa.gov/spot-the-station/

Yeah, speaking of…I was so excited to see a rocket launch today…just for it to be scrubbed (cancelled for the day). 😭 We had an 85% chance of it being a go, and then this happens. That will be the last time I pay $250 for a “Feel The Heat” package…when I (maybe in the future) could just watch the launch from a nearby beach or the Airbnb. Oh well…..

Update: Luckily, the launch was rescheduled to today, and I was able to watch it from one of the parks that’s right by the water.

Does the entire world have a reading comprehension problem or am I no longer fluent in English?

It should be like a rain out for a ballgame, you get to go to the next available makeup game for "free".

Yes, a second launch attempt was included for free. However I had to check out of my Airbnb by 10 am on August 1st. And I had a Greyhound bus to catch to get to my next destination, and that particular Greyhound bus from point A to point B only runs once a day. So it would not have been wise for me to make a second trip to Kennedy Space Center…while carrying around a purse, a bag, and a rolling suitcase…and possibly miss my bus. So instead of watching the launch from KSC, I watched it from a place called Kennedy Point Park that’s waaay closer to the Greyhound bus stop I needed to get to. I’m really glad they rescheduled it for that following morning. I would have been really upset if I’d missed it after going through all this.

Tbh when I was sitting at the bleachers at KSC the other day, there were trees kind of blocking the view of the launch (the one that didn’t happen) anyway. At least at Kennedy Point Park…Indian River’s right there, and we all got a nice view of the launch from KSC without any trees obstructing the view…and I got to see a dolphin in the water and a manatee.

I agree with the guy on Reddit who said he feels KSC’s refund policy for the Feel The Heat package is predatory. Those of us out-of-towners who have buses/trains/flights to catch…and Airbnb or hotel time restraints…don’t have the luxury of just running back and forth to KSC every time a launch is scrubbed. Lesson learned…in the future I will not be spending $250 for a “Feel The Heat” rocket launch package when there are other places I could go to watch a launch for free, and have an excellent view.

KSC Visitor Complex was cool though! I got a NASA KSC reusable shopping bag, KSC poncho, and KSC mini binoculars from the gift shop. I used the binoculars for the launch yesterday, and will use them when I’m stargazing (Meteor showers are active, so I saw shooting stars this week!).

Haha I forgot I was going to post the first part of my comment as a different post, got distracted and didn't delete it before commenting on your experience so ignore that part, it was abstract thought.

Sounds like quite the experience and I'm glad you at least got to see it but that policy does seem predatory since launches can be scrubbed over the tiniest of reasons, like someone pooping their pants.

I’m just gonna say I wouldn’t want to go to space with an extra payload in my suit, but maybe I’m the only one who thinks that’s a little more than a tiny problem 🤣
I'm guessing unless you are actively vomitting, you're going up regardless of what goes down in your pants. 😀

And stale.
If you don't heat em up, they always seem a bit stale.

I didn't know you're supposed to heat them for so many years.

I didn't realize for many years that you're supposed to heat them.

(edited because it sounded weird LOL)

Even heating them up, it lasts for about 5 seconds and then it's shards of taco shell in your mouth. I did break down and get Taco Bell the other day and that's just the way I'm going to handle it from now on -- fresh, crunchy tacos. Same $, same time, better result.

If one is willing to turn their oven into a sort of fryer, you can hang uncooked corn tortillas over the grates of your oven and make your own fresh hard corn shells. You need a drip pan underneath.

I've given up buying the hard taco shells for homemade meals, I use soft (and warmed) tortillas and put crushed corn chips with the filling so I at least get a crunchy texture.
I'm still getting over the local Taco Bell closing, it was always a great quick solution. Guess it just couldn't compete with the Big 3 in this city, especially Unlucky Fried Kitten and the Golden Arches of Doom.

Aww sorry you lost your Taco Bell. :( But yeah at home it's soft and warmed fajita tortillas (slightly smaller, thicker) and On the Border Cantina chips. Or maybe it's Tostitos, but really thin and light.

I have an appt with my pain management dr tomorrow. I'm hoping I can get referred in to someone to determine if my arthritis has moved into my neck.

I'm not (in the typical range of) old enough to deal with all this shit in my bones.

Take care of your body, kids. "That's gonna hurt when I get old" absolutely hurts when you get old.

I have a deteriorated disc in my neck, and the pain is unbelievable. Although intensive physical therapy helped a lot.

Funny you chose that candle GIF, it's the same one I often use too haha. Burning the candle at both ends can kinda catch up, but it's still worth it (to me). I'm only 44, or so, or something like that. 40s is next level when it comes to that kind of stuff though. It's like how hangovers start to change dramatically late 20s and 30s. I magine that, your liver can't burn through a bottle of jagermeister in a few hours anymore lol. All of a sudden it's not a few hour/ half day thing. Well, same with 40s and bones and joints, and other physical skeletal, crtilidgey, jointy stuff. But, honestly, it's not all negative. It feels that way when you're in pain though, for sure.

And don't even get me started on the uterus and what happens there...
