When I first saw this commercial for the Susan G Komen 3-day 60 mile walk I was like no way i could do that. I tonight at dinner with my father and significant other brought up the topic of the three day. Both of them said I should go for it. They think by the end of the year when the walk is that I would be able to do it. Has anyone else done this walk? Or walked that much? My other issue is raising money for this. I saw that you need at LEAST $2,350 to even walk. I was so bummed when I saw that price. Even with the price I still feel the need to do this. I really want to prove to myself that I can do this. I'm only twenty-four, but I want to do this some day. I want to prove to myself that i can do this. But how do i raise that much money? And most of all, why is that price so high? Sorry guys, im just rambling. I know its for a good cause, but the entry fee is just boggling my mind right now...Any advice would be wonderful! Thanks so much.

Cassana, just a couple of suggestions on coming up with that kind of money to put up for the walk...
- talk to some of the local business owners and tell them what you are wanting to do, sometime they will support financially some people that are trying to do something for charity.
- post something on your profile and set up a chip in fund or dedicate a certain amount of your tips to said charity. some will tip more when they know where the tips are going
- set up a facebook account to make people aware of what you are trying to do, maybe set up a bank account for people to make direct donations to, talk to your local bank and have them help you set it up. they are always trying to get more business into their bank. ( look into short term CD's that will mature before the walk, it gives you a little more leverage and earns a little interest )

The Susan G. Komen foundation would be a good charity for a lot of us to look at sometime.

Good advice GD...Most people sign up as a team and split the 2300 commitment, or you could just sign up as part of the crew where there are no fundraising commitments and no walking, but you're still part of it.

20 miles a day isn't as difficult as it may seem provided you're healthy. We used to average four miles an hour in semi tough terrain and that was with 60 pound rucksacks on our back.

Good luck!
