Hi guys! I'm Kim, I'm a retired alt model myself and I work for an upcoming adult platform.

I've noticed a lot of adult content creators are signed to agencies/have agents. OnlyFans even has a section of their site dedicated to explaining and encouraging agency/OnlyFans relations. What do you ladies and gents think of this? I'd love to hear from people actually working in the industry whether agents are viewed as a positive or negative thing. Do you consider this to be like pimping or just a more efficient way of managing your business?

I don’t know anyone on this forum with an agent except for one model who was doing pro porn shoots. I would say there’s more independent content creator models VS ones with agents. I’ve only ever heard of professional porn performers working for big box sites having agents at all. I don’t see any benefit to it and it’s for sure viewed here mostly as a negative thing and just someone to take your money. It’s not super difficult to run your own stuff just takes research and general tech smarts and even then if you’re overwhelmed you’re better off hiring even a fellow sex worker to help you along in the areas you need help with or get free promo on social media if you’re looking for traffic.

Hi Carmita, thank you so much for your response. It's very interesting to hear that there is a negative association with agents here, because it does seem that in mainstream porn a lot of models are on various agency boards. Part of my job is to reach out to models, and I was SO surprised anybody would direct me to their agent. Our project has a ton of traffic (1mil unique per day due to very good SEO) but we are deciding now how best to serve content creators, and whether allowing agencies on the site should be part of that plan at all! :borg:

There's a huge difference between camsites and Onlyfans.
1. Camsites handle marketing and onboarding members. 99% of models just focus on getting model from the existing member base and do go through the effort of recruiting new members externally. Even with affiliate programs and guarenteed income increases most won't be bothered to put that much effort since the existing member base is large enough.

2. Camsites have in many cases limited how much models can promote externally so maintaining things like IG or Twitter accounts are (optional) business and not 'must haves' like Onlyfans models.

3. The VAST majority of Onlyfans models don't even consider themselves sexworkers, many of them would be disgusted to even associated as sex workers because in their view OF is just a way for them to monitize the safe softcore teasing they been doing on their instagram or twitter for years.

Instragram, twitter and other social media (stars) are more likely to consider their success from their celebrity would more often look towards agents over a cammodel who view site ranking of more importance to their success which they don't need extra help or an agent to boost.

Also there will be models that associate agent/studio/pimp all the same which is more why you would feel a negative vibe to it. There's simply not a great deal of crossover at this point with camshow site models jumping into mainstream entertainment.
