Honestly I love the idea of VR, especially now Fallout 4 is coming out for it (no not JUST to perve on the companions). Only, it's so damn expensive.

Have any of you got it? Thinking of getting it? Is it worth it?

I've got a HTC Vive. It's cool, and fun for parties, but I can't imagine doing a 2 hour Fallout session in it.

We have a PSVR. Great for parties but not any killer apps out yet. At $500 it's a little steep for what's released. Resident Evil VII is absolutely terrifying in VR though lol.

I have PSVR. It’s fun, but there’s not a huge amount of content out there yet. A lot of fun hour-long games though. It’s pretty expensive but I imagine it’ll drop a hundred bucks by next March.

I was playing with my Dad's Samsung VR headset a while ago and even though the content was mainly comprised of VR "experiences" and short demo gameplay with minimal movement/interaction I was highly impressed. However I think I will most likely invest in next-generation VR, but depending on exclusive content/games I'm not sure if I will get a PC or console based VR system.

I'd say yes if you can get both the VR gear headset AND the VR controller for a really dirt cheap price. I haven't tried out the controller but without it you'll be raising your arm to the touch controls located on the side of the VR headset all the time which can be a bit tiring and make you not want to experience VR anymore. Overall though I found it to be more like demo hardware than a truly dedicated VR system worth investing in like Vive or the Rift with a select few good apps and games to delve into. And FYI I have not tried out the other VR systems.

Thank you Michael! That was very useful, maybe i'll get it this weekend if i can find it for a cheap price, and ONLY for a cheap price lol.

I have owned my Vive for a little over a year now and to me it has been worth the money. However I suggest anyone looking to buy one to wait a little because I believe we are seeing the end of this first generation of VR headsets and a new one is going to come out in the near future. Valve has already talked about that they have redesigned the lighthouses and that the new ones won't be backwards compatible with the old Vive headsets.

I was floored by the oculus rift at a convention a while back. I know there are cheaper VR headsets that use your smartphone but it wasn't quite the same. I think I could be tempted, especially with the possibilities for things like researching potential travel destinations, training in new skills using VR instead before investing in tons of new equipment, etc. There's so many possibilities.

I agree something like the Samsung gear VR is great for watching movies on your phone, but to get the full VR experience the Rift or the Vive is definitely the way to go. However it requires that you have a room big enough so you can use room scale and walk around, I had to redecorate my living room to make it work. :)

I can't believe I forgot this but I've also watched VR porn. I can't remember what type of device it was--it was being passed around a party. I doubt it was an oculus rift, but it was definitely fancier than the iPhone/Samsung-VR set-ups I've tried. Generally most of the guests enjoyed the selection of videos.

I enjoyed the girl videos even though they were obviously meant to be enjoyed by a viewer with a penis because I would look down and see the model sucking a virtual cock.

Which I guess raises an interesting question--will future VR porn have an option for viewers to customize the perspective they want?

- Will more people want models that look exactly like themselves, or models that look like a slightly tweaked version of themselves, or a fantasy super attractive version of themselves?

- Would this be accomplished with a Dark Souls-style character creator? Could players upload their own homemade models? I understand some people might not care what their avatar looks like and will rush into the porn without tweaking anything, but there are other people who might want a model that resembles their bodies, especially if they have a body that isn't often represented in porn (ie, someone whose body may not resemble the default avatar due to an injury or health condition). Computer animation is definitely in a place where so many customization options are possible.

- re: big tits and big tummies that block the first-person view: So lets say I create a character with my exact same shape and proportions so I can feel fully immersed in a custom VR porn about a cute girl eating out a 3-d model that looks exactly like me. One thing: In real life, my tits block my "view" when I'm laying on my back. In real life, if I want to watch a girl eat me out, I have to crane my neck or prop myself up with my elbows to see over my tits. I imagine there's some people with very large tummies that might have a similar issue--if they create a character that looks like themselves, they might not be able to look down and see the girl on her knees sucking cock. I want to see my tits if I'm watching VR about someone playing with my tits, but if I look down because I want to see a virtual girl eating me out, would it make me crane my virtual neck to see over my tits, or would there be an option to make them transparent so I can watch the show? I wonder how they would accomplish this "transparent view" without losing the immersiveness.

So many possibilities! I think VR porn could revolutionize the virtual sex world and I'm so excited to see what happens.

So far the best VR porn seems to be 180° videos, but I think you are right about that the future are in 3d animated VR porn. If someone builds a competent game engine that allows for character customization, where users can set up their own scenes using pre-made animations it could be an amazing experience.

I think the VR porn I watched was a 180° video. I guess I was also thinking that maybe studios could shoot a video of a model, but digitally replace the point-of-view performer with a computer generated 3-d model of the player's choice (if the player wished--like if the point of view actor was removing from the immersion for example). The technology is definitely there.

I was pretty impressed by OMGYes as a virtual tutorial to teach different strategies for vagina stimulation. I think something like that in VR could be really beneficial for people who have anxiety about entering certain sexual scenarios, or any scenario in particular.

Yes it would be possible to do using motion capture and in a few years when something like Intel RealSense has become more refined I guess that could be used as well.

There is a VR experience called Speech Trainer that let's you stand in front of a crowd practicing speeches. I think you are right in that we are going to see more use for VR like that.

I don't have my own VR headset, but I'm taking a class which has me using it regularly. Assuming you're not one of the people who gets sick from it (no one in my class does; I don't think it's terribly common), it's AWESOME. Immersive doesn't even begin to cover it. I've played games which had me physically ducking and dodging enemy fire while I fought them off with a bow and arrow, ones where the ground was shaken under me and I stumbled as well, horror games that scared me to my core, and got to sit in Belle's seat during the Be Our Guest scene! And this is all the short games/simulators we have in class - I can't WAIT to play longer campaign games like Lone Echo! It wouldn't be a bad idea to wait untill the next generation rolls out though. This one isn't bad, but improvements can definitely be made.

However, if it's relevant to you, it doesn't really work with glasses. You need contacts or naturally good vision to play. You can also expect your gaming sessions to be shorter as it's hard to be in that space very long - most people in my class seem to get a bit queasy after about an hour or less

What VR headset do you get to use in class? I use glasses with my Vive without any issues, but I took into consideration how big my glasses could be and still fit in the Vive when I bought them.

I've used Vive, Oculus, and the PS4 one. My glasses aren't huge, but they are larger than the average rectangular frames. Oculus was ~okay~ while I was sitting down, but some of my classmates and I found that it hurt our eyes in other systems. I'm glad to know it's not that way for everyone though!
