Because confident beautiful 30+ women aren't going to be the arm baggage that some nameless 20 year old will be. I just saw the last Transformer movie. The not very pretty, too thin and ridiculously dressed replacement for Megan Fox could have been replaced with an expensive pair of sunglasses Shia LaBeouf keeps trying to save from various fates.

They cast the 20 something actresses for all the teen boys they want to come to the movies and spend their money on the movies. The teens don't necessarily care about attractive actresses who can also act very well.
