Bingo. Found what I was looking for.

Here's a quote from the U.S. copyright law code, section 506.c:

"Fraudulent Copyright Notice. — Any person who, with fraudulent intent, places on any article a notice of copyright or words of the same purport that such person knows to be false, or who, with fraudulent intent, publicly distributes or imports for public distribution any article bearing such notice or words that such person knows to be false, shall be fined not more than $2,500." SOURCE

In other words, putting a copyright symbol on something that you know is false is a federal offense punishable with a fine of up to 2500 bucks.

In other words, ladies, please, stop putting false copyright symbols on your videos on MFC. Doing so is a federal offense.

Instead, put your name or your website on there. That's completely legal.

I put 'myfreecams.com - Ugly_UK_Loner' at the top, then position my cam so it stays at the top and doesn't cover anything.
I didn't used to, until someone came in my room and told me they were showing my cam somewhere else and could I say hi. I never thought anyone would steal my cam feed seeing as I'm the most boring person ever, haha. Weirdos.

Good find, Runts. Doing just the URL for the model's website or profile is the best option by far.

The key words there are "with fraudulent intent." Do you honestly think Leo would sue his earners for $2500? He's just a tad bit smarter than that. At most, admin would direct a model to change it or remove it altogether.

I'm not advocating doing anything illegal, just sayin'.

Leo would not have to sue them; anyone could simply report it to the authorities since this is a part of the federal law code.

My question is this: why risk it? Does putting the copyright symbol on your feed really help prevent theft that much? I seriously doubt that it does. Nor does putting your name. However, putting your name on there is a safe and legal way to get some advertising out of whatever theft that may happen.

I have heard that some porn sites automatically reject the upload of anything with copyright symbols or certain kinds of watermarks. I am not sure what the truth in that is since I have never tried it. Maybe that is why some girls do it?

There would also have to be some proof of fraudulent intent before anything came of it, or was even investigated. A model camming from her home could easily argue she believed she had the rights to everything she did on her cam in her house. Then they would have to prove that it came solely from MFC and who is going to go through all that trouble without somebody filing suit.

If a model has a website, embedding that link in a classy, discreet way is probably the best way to go about it.

What gets me is when websites embed their link on stolen vids. Here's a perfect example:

Models sign a release stating anything broadcast over MFC is owned by MFC. Some intricacies of copyright law have been discussed earlier in other threads...

There is a LOT of legality into the issue of tube sites and tube sites are becoming a promotional tool for many cam websites. Flirt4Free just launched their OWN tube site months ago with recordings of model's shows for free to view, with links to their cam site.

Many cam sites (99%) have affiliation or webmaster links that give website builders tools (iFrames, banners, photos and videos and MORE) of ALL their models that allow webmasters to use FREE.

I could show you THOUSANDS and THOUSANDS of videos available for me to use LEGALLY, some from members here. What you all think is invasion of privacy and illegal to use without your permission was given up to the cam sites when you signed agreements.

As a former copyright and business attorney, I assure you that MANY sites do post images ILLEGALLY, but all you need to do is send the site a DMCA claim. The courts recognize DMCA claims... Just sending an email threatening lawsuit and using attorneys is bullshit! Really it is! I will help ANY model get her videos deleted from ANY website LEGALLY and effectively!

ANYONE can use your video under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act of 1998 using the Fair Use clause, and I have been successful MANY times in court of this.

If ANYONE has any questions, I will answer truthfully and nicely...
I did not write this to start an argument or debate... Just to give the facts of the LAW!

If you don't like the law, write to your State Representative and get the laws changed...
Or VOTE and elect the best person you think can change the laws...
In other words, it IS LEGAL to post ANY VIDEOS!!!! Bottom line... End of statement as dictated by LAW.

:)

If ANYONE has any questions, I will answer truthfully and nicely... Write me a PM!!!

As a side note: any and all content broadcasted over MFC is owned by MFC and not us, the models. The contract clearly states that any and all content may or may not be used anywhere MFC deems fit, including, and not limited to, MFC selling the content to other sites without reimbursing or notifying the model. That being said, legally, sites do not have to obey a DMCA request from models (or their members) as the models are not the copyright holder of the content in question and you could possibly get in trouble for impersonating the copyright holder. For all we know, MFC could have given the site in question explicit permission to use any of MFC's content as they see fit. It's good to keep this in mind if/when you find a site with images/videos of yourself and try to take action to get it removed.

How can I contact Leo ? I need to borrow those

If barbie had breast implants... Seriously though... where are her nipples?!?!?!

I think she meant creepy because you have to not only enlarge, but SEARCH for the chicks nipples. Looks like she got spray tanned nude or something.

I saw her last night and took some screen caps because when I saw her she had some weird setting to where a fake background was up but it was cutting into parts of her body.

These banners are fail for a couple reasons.

First, the video is not property of AlleyLee. It's the property of MFC.

Second, do you really need a huge timestamp on the video feed? It's blocking your phenooter.

P.S. What's with your color settings? You look more orange than a carrot. It seems like you might have the color saturation up too high to account for low light levels and a crappy webcam.
