Personally, I really do not see camming being like phone sex or anything of those other things that you mentioned. I have been working as phone sex operator for 13....almost 14 years now. Most porn stars were slim and had to fit into whatever male fantasy they had to indulged.

However, cam models can look many different ways and there are some diversity about what they wanted to. Plus, the closest thing to non-nude in porn would be non-sexual acting role. Meanwhile, deflowering ceremonies was to ensure that women were virgins. It was not meant to be arousing but to ensure that everyone got their dowry's worth. As far as burlesque is concern; it was an theatrical art form closer to a vaudeville act before 1940. After 1940, burlesque start featuring more striptease acts like Gypsy Rose Lee and Sally Rand. Men were not jacking off in the supper clubs that featured burlesque acts. Burlesque was just naughty entertainment and not something like modern day stripping. Men watched stag films together over a couple of beers and bonded. Plus there were girly and cheesecake magazines for guys to jack off to. Thus, that scene in the Mechanic makes sense for the time but it will never happen now.

I guess that depends on how you define webcamming. Webcamming on the internet has only be around 15 to 20 years. but it was around before that

The Mechanic scene was a G.F.E., that was my point. He paid for the content, that was the fantasy. The sex was secondary.

Would a 'modern mechanic' bother with the prostitute, and instead choose a web cam model? If you know the movie I believe he would, the real fantasy would be better serviced.

You are not wrong.......Historically, which is the one form of adult entertainment that you feel bests represents camming?

I think of the 18th century play 'Dangerous Liaisons' (Les Liaisons dangereuses), on the pleasure, entertainment and barter side. Nothing like the sweet bonobo, humans have always had a much more wicked sex game.
