Usually somewhere between flippant and glib.
For some reason, Hillary Clinton decided not to declare them a terrorist organisation.

According to wiki: Boko Haram is an Islamic group and takfiri militant and terrorist organization based in the northeast of Nigeria, north Cameroon and Niger. Founded by Mohammed Yusuf in 2002, the organisation seeks to establish a "pure" Islamic state ruled by sharia law, putting a stop to what it deems "Westernization". The group is known for attacking Christians and government targets, bombing churches, schools and police stations, and kidnapping western tourists, but has also assassinated members of the Islamic establishment. Violence linked to the Boko Haram insurgency has resulted in an estimated 10,000 deaths between 2002 and 2013.

Not to be confused with Procol Harum, which if memory serves correct, is a crude Latin translation of Siamese Cat :dontknow:

As horrific as this heinous act is by these Boko Haram nutjobs, I hope it somehow brings more world-wide awareness & support to help fight human trafficking and every disgusting thing that leads to.

Sharia law needs to somehow be abolished forever, along with this cultural crap of female genital mutilation.

Yeah, if I recall, Procul Haram was named for the cat owned by one of the band member's girlfriend.

Boko Haram is a filthy, nasty bunch of animals that should be separated from life. As far as Sharia, it's just an Arabic word that means law. Law, as we know, isn't monolithic; it varies from place to place. I really don't see that much difference between fundamentalist Sharia and the imposition of laws that many fundamentalist Christians would like to impose.

Hillary Clinton is far from one of my favorite people but the state department did have some legitimate reasons for not designating Boko Haram a terrorist organization back in 2011:

But there were multiple valid reasons for the State Department to disagree with the Justice Department and other agencies dealing with counterterrorism — such as the FBI and CIA — who urged State to place Boko Haram on the Foreign Terrorists Organization (FTO) list. “Designation is an important tool, it’s not the only tool,” a former State Department official told the Beast. “There are a lot of other things you can do in counterterrorism that doesn’t require a designation.” This includes boosting development aid to undercut the causes of unrest and deploying the FBI to assist in tracking down Boko Haram, both of which the U.S. actually did.

In addition, Clinton didn’t act in a vacuum to determine not to designate Boko Haram back in 2011. Scholars on Twitter who focus on the region, terrorism broadly, and Islamist groups in particular were quick to point out that not only were there few benefits and many possible costs to designation, many of them had argued against listing Boko Haram several years ago. In a letter to the State Department dated May 2012, twenty prominent African studies scholars wrote Clinton to implore her to hold off on placing Boko Haram on the FTO list. Acknowledging the violence Boko Haram had perpetrated, the academics argued that “an FTO designation would internationalize Boko Haram, legitimize abuses by Nigeria’s security services, limit the State Department’s latitude in shaping a long term strategy, and undermine the U.S. Government’s ability to receive effective independent analysis from the region.”

SHARIʽA: the body of formally established sacred law in Islam based primarily on Allah's commandments found in the Koran and revealed through the sunna of Muhammad, governing in theory not only religious matters but regulating as well political, economic, civil, criminal, ethical, social, and domestic affairs in Muslim countries, and commonly in practice being supplemented by the customary law of a region.

In other words... stone that stupid bitch to death for getting raped!

Yeah, which is why Turkey decided to go with secular law. No matter how well intentioned, basing laws on scripture of any religion often slides into stupid crap. Which is why a lot of us object when judges or others want to plaster the Ten Commandments on the walls of a courthouse.

I saw that the Nigerian government has put up a $3million reward for the safe return of those girls.

All you need to do is provide your name, address, date of birth, bank details and mother's maiden name.

I heard a report on the radio today that the Nigerian army had been warned of the imminent attack but chose to ignore it because they are afraid to engage with the terrorists because they're better armed than the army. Sounds like northern Nigeria may break away from Nigeria proper in the not-so-distant future, kind of like what's going on in Mali.

Sharia by itself is harmless. It is full with very clever ways to live, maintain a basic human moral, and kindness to all around. It doesn't include killing, humiliation or cutting off young girls body-parts.. or other crap people was doing. And it definitely doesn't include terrorism.

The problem is not only with Sharia, but with every law in the world, that people always try to find a way to screw it, turn everything upside down and call it law afterwards, only because their own dirty mind says so.

No one can be Christian by blowing themselves up while screaming "In a name of Jesus", same goes with Islam. Bombers and fanatics aren't Muslims! Crazy psycho`s - that's what they are!

And all casual peaceful Muslim world suffers from them too. There was a bombing in Bahrain in March for example, my very good Muslim friend lost few relatives there.

Parts of the Nigerian army is sympathetic to the plight of these groups. Islam does not value young girls as anything but commodities so no one would have cared that the girls were being taken.

So she was influenced by Twitter scholars & Islamic groups?

At least she had legitimate reasons.

I guess I don't understand the rolling of eyes. Just because an organization posts on Twitter, it totally discredits them?

So where did it go wrong and how can we help?

Former Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, told the mother of a slain soldier fighting for other Americans dying in the Benghazi firefight that her son's death occurred because of an anti-Muslim video.

Happy Mother's Day Hillary, you deceitful, lying bitch.

Totally off topic, I'll never be able to hear A Whiter Shade of Pale without thinking of The 10th Kingdom. Gosh dang I love that movie. :shifty: *no shame*

Oddly enough women should be considered equals in Islam if certain practitioners would read the Quran and the Hadith properly. The issue is that it has been pretty much ignored and re-written over time. Some scholars have theorized that this started to happen around the time Islam began to interact with Christianity.

This article below quotes passages from the Quran about women. While all religious scriptures are open for interpretation (probably the biggest issue I have with religion in the first place) some of the passages seem to be pretty clear.

Of course, which is why I said Islam and not the Quran. Arab culture, which is the driving force behind the misogynistic nature of Islam. Central asian cutures that have adopted Islam have been trying to ignore the Arab influence, which is being pushed on them by missionaries with more or less success. Even places like Turkey which were remarkably secular a few years ago are now having to deal with the Hijab which was banned by Ataturk as being Arab cultural baggage rather than anything in the Quran.

The downside is that the Quran defines two states, the realm of peace and the realm of war, with the realm of war being any place that Islam is not the state religion and only people of the book are allowed to live.

Sudanese woman sentenced to death for converting to Christianity
Reuters
KHARTOUM (Reuters) - A Sudanese court has sentenced a 27-year-old woman to death for converting to Christianity, judicial sources said.

Mariam Yahya Ibrahim had been ordered to abandon her newly adopted Christian faith and return to Islam. She had also been charged with adultery for marrying a Christian man.

Judge Abbas al Khalifa asked Ibrahim whether she would return to Islam. After she said "I am a Christian," the death sentence was handed down, the judicial sources said.

"Sudan is committed to all human rights and freedom of faith granted in Sudan by the constitution and law," Foreign Ministry spokesman Abu-Bakr Al-Siddiq said. He added that his ministry trusted the integrity and independence of the judiciary.

I think the BBC could have picked a better reporter to cover this story.

There are extremists in ALL religions that cherry pick and hijack certain parts of religious literature to support their extreme views, regardless of the overall message of that religion.

Said an idiot who has never read the Koran. The Koran says that unless you are Muslim, Jewish, Catholic or Zoroastrian you must die, and that any place that is not Muslim with only the above religions as accepted minorities is the realm of war, and any level of violence is acceptable until the above state exsts.
