I've been camming on Chaturbate as I've only just started and it seemed the best for "ametures" but it's actually pretty overwhelming having so many guys talking at once. I feel like I can't give any attention to them.

On top of that I've made nothing, I understand that building a group of regulars helps you get more money but everyone wants attention for free. I have a tip list but have been told that new girls usually do stuff for free or cheap.

There's a balance between giving away enough to tease and get more people into the room and not giving away the milk for free. How the hell do you manage this? And how do you deal with not feeling rude for ignoring people and their requests?

Honestly I'm tempted to give up Chaturbate and try on other sites but they all seem to be taking ages to verify me (including Boleyn models).

If you have the new status on your profile (CB it lasts 1 week from when your profile first gets approved, not when you first broadcast) you draw a lot of people like this.

Right now your main goal is to get as many followers as you can with the new status, worry about tokens NEXT week, CB game is played differently than the other king token site, MFC. I know, it sounds very ODD and strange. CB page placement is done by how many REGISTERED VIEWERS (not bots or anon or 3rd party viewers) are in your room. The more you can get, the better page placement to attract tippers next week.

Don't fall into the "I'll tip you once you do XYZ" they will get it for free 99% of the time. if they want free stuff, tell them "I'm sure one of the many thousands of other models will be happy to oblige you".

"View my cam for free?" I reply with "Sorry, I have limited bandwith with my lame internet and view cams drops my frame rate down too much. It's best if we can do it in private". This is actually true for me, but it works to deter others with a smile on your face.

SOME grey members will actually go buy tokens for you. it's happened to me 3 times now. I've also had other members who were premium become basic because they lost their password, or had to cancel the credit card, etc. If you give a regular tipper a gratis, make sure you tell others that they are a fan who has tipped you or bought videos or something in the past, and you like to emphasize customer service. This sort of encourages others to tip, the rival model of learning.

Then there's the "if you have a request, put it in the tip note so I can see it right away" ordeal. I even tell this to grey members... Don't acknowledge people who talk dirty without tip notes.

Charge 20-25 tokens for a pm chat (that's for the chat, not per PM). Use a rotating notifier bot (you can find these on the bots/apps lists for CB) that state PM's are 20-25 tokens, no exceptions. If they don't tip, no reply.

I'm not ban happy, I only ban bots really. These are the grey users that come in and say "c2c... boys?" "ma ybe s e x?" etc.

Thanks guys, I've been thinking of giving up on Chaturbate but I might give it another go. I already have 68 followers despite only going on for a couple of hours twice and I did feel bad about leaving them.

I'll take this advice and give it another go.

im so sorry you're having this issue! its frustrating! i know. firstly, familiarize yourself with the options of who u want in your room, ppl with tokens only or all users. i prefer ppl with tokes only. i only allow greys if i have my MOD in the room. but totally depends on your vibe. greys dont have tokens and cant tip, so u really dont have to even acknowledge them(harsh i know im sorry but they can get really out of hand)

you NEVER give anything away from free, its not a written rule but you as a model should never have to feel like u owe anyone anything. make them pay girl!! lol we deserve to be appreciated, thats what the site is for, plenty of free porn out there but you are real and live. so that alone is tip worthy.

i cam on two different sites. CB is one of them and honestly i make more on CB. establish rules, use bots and have goals/tip menus. seems like ur a conversationalist....use that to ur advantage! men love women who talk to them. you'll do great, its always a challenge in the beginning

Being a new girl you actually have more leverage during this time because you have something to offer they haven't seen yet. While it is true some new girls tend to give stuff away for cheap or free, they are doing themselves a huge disservice because that's all people will expect from them once that reputation is made.

The only people thinking you are rude for refusing requests are the freeloaders who try their luck with new models. The more you say no to them, the easier it gets and you won't find yourself feeling as bad. Camming definitely taught me to not care what people think of me.

It's good you already have a tip list because it's something you can point to when asked questions. Sticking to the list and not doing anything for less than the advertised price will teach members you can't be swayed by their seagull like nagging.

wait. Hold the phone. The profile is new from when you get approved not first day you broadcast? Shit. My boyfriend and I started camming together. easing him in with him being on my profile playing with me, no dick out or naked. He just services me. THEN when he was feeling confident with it we were going to cam together on our account together, but that's been approved for over a week now. Should we delete that profile and start another? Does Chaturbate do that? I know MFC doesn't give new profiles to people. Is it the same on chaturbate? Any advice?

I'm having this same issue on CB. I like to chat but its hard getting people to talk to me and even harder to have people tip. I'm pulling 5-8 hour shifts and making $40-$50. I have great set ups, good cam, great lighting, hair, makeup and outfits are on point. I have the silly Lush thinggy which seems to be the only thing people tip for. I wish they played my games, tipped for the tip menu and chatted with me but its been a huge struggle. Ive dedicated three weeks of researching on this site and others for tips and then all night trying to make it work. I'm at a loss here.

I think it should be fine. I have seen models on CB with multiple accounts and being logged into both at the same time - and the model STILL exists.
Just explain to support in advance though to be on the safe side, they will most likely understand (just expect your reply to take a good month or 2 lol)

I’m in the same boat. This unbelievable with your looks.

Sometimes it is a case of giving them way too much. Try not to do so much.

I get that this is hard, but overall you guys are taking this way too personally. OP, who might not be here anymore because this was posted a long time ago, def is putting way too much of her personal feelings in this. It's a job. You're doing it for money. It's not about how they feel, or if you hurt their feelings, or if they all told you you should give your body to them for free. Being new on cam means being surrounded by a swarm of assholes. Ban or block every single one of them who demands things, or says upsetting shit. It's not true that you should be free or cheap. That just means you don't think you're worth much. I started out with top tip levels for things, including privates, because I know I'm worth it. Cheap guys complained, told me I need more experience first. But I made the money, and plenty of favorites, anyway. Do what you want, on your terms. It's not up to them to tell you what to do, how to set your prices, or anything else. They will follow a woman who is confident. They will attack someone who looks weak and like she will do whatever they tell her to. This is not about their feelings in the least. It is about filling your bank account, or getting whatever it was that you were seeking when you joined - write out your goals for camming, and stop at nothing to honor your own needs. Block anybody who interferes with your happiness.

This unbelievable with your looks.

You really are not understanding this. It's got nothing to do with how you look. You need to do more research on Chaturbate. If your self esteem is really shaky, camming might not be a good idea for you because it will tug at all your hidden insecurities. But, women who look every kind of which way make good money there. There is someone for everyone. You don't have to be model-pretty. If anything, sometimes that is a hindrance because there are a million model/porn-type girls out there, and in some cases guys see them as unapproachable and not likely to date them in real life. A more "average"-looking girl is sometimes more endearing and makes more money. There are girls on there who would be considered "ugly" by conventional standards, and they are making bank! It is just a matter of how much competition you have for your body type and other physical features at any given broadcast time. You need to out-rank them all with personality. Confidence. Doing whatever is your online persona, better than anyone else who has a similar persona. Being kind, friendly, personable, flirty, feminine, masculine, aggressive, emo, fetish work, cute, youngish, MILFy, dismissive, curious, weird... whatever is your thing, figure it out and do it to the max, really brand your personality. When you get to the point that you know your name is synonymous with that thing you represent, then you have branded yourself. Come out of the gate knowing you are the best at being who you are, and that nobody else on that site can ever be you, and you will pick up regulars quickly, earn respect, and make money. Plus, you won't have to compromise yourself, or feel bad about yourself. Know what you have to offer. If you think you have nothing to offer that is different from or better than other girls, why cam? It's about marketing. If you look just like everybody else, have the same show as everybody else, why would anybody stop on your page, favorite you, much less tip you? There are endless porn options for them to choose from on the internet, many of them free. You have to be a competitor, and have a fighting spirit. At least to compete with yourself, and try to get more money or more followers this week or this month than you got last time around.

Aurora, I don't know your cam work, I've never seen your page. But, just looking at your profile pic alone, I see a bookish/shy girl with sex appeal. I might be reading a lot into it, because your pic looks a LOT like a girl I know, and so of course this makes me think of her personality, which possibly has nothing to do with you. But since I'm into women, this girl I'm thinking of, drove me wild with her elusive charms. She was smart, vulnerable but somehow also very commanding in some areas, classy, kind-hearted but sometimes bitchy and mean, very quiet and shy and kind of librarianish, romantic but very hard to ever get too close to... complicated. There's really only one of her. But her TYPE, is valuable and rare on a place like Chaturbate. If that were to be an image you wanted to cultivate, for instance, you could absolutely do that. You could be dominant, or submissive, sometimes some of each, whatever you want. You could be talkative and excitable, or not. But, be UNIQUE. Be sure of yourself on the inside, that you know what image you're selling.

I'll tell you, classy is very rare on Chaturbate. A lot of guys will pay more for a girl who has some clothes on, who flirts rather than cums and screams all over cam for free. Who speaks with intelligence. Who seems dateable in real life - like a girl he could bring home to Mom, but who really likes sex to boot! Flirting sometimes makes way more money than outright sex and nakedness, if you're good at it. Don't feel pressure to do what everybody else is doing, or compare yourself to them, if that's not who you are or what you enjoy. It's not sustainable, and you'll make less money. This girl that your pic reminds me of, she had low self esteem, never felt like she was pretty enough compared to other girls. Always lowered herself to try to compete with club-type girls, who had a much more superficial, plastic image. But what I liked about her, was that she DIDN'T fit the cookie-cutter image. That she was smart, and did things her own way. That she had her own style that fit her. Those other girls had nothing on her. She projected quality, and that's what guys saw in her. And ultimately what her husband saw in her. He was the type of guy who had previously been surrounded by a bunch of model-y look-alike girls. But he chose to invest the most of himself in a girl who was attractive in her own way, and who stood out a little more as being a real person. That's a perfect metaphor for how Chaturbate works. It's designed so people will attach emotionally. It's best to use that to your advantage if you can, to be the "girlfriend" type girl. Approachablle, quirky maybe, sweet, but always in control behind the scenes of your own destiny.

I'm having this same issue on CB. I like to chat but its hard getting people to talk to me and even harder to have people tip. I'm pulling 5-8 hour shifts and making $40-$50. The other thing I have to add here, as I've said elsewhere, is that it's an oversaturated market. Tons of people are racing each other to the bottom, to give more away for less. There is no cam model union, although there should be. Very few people who start new are making good money. You'll have to put in time, and have a lot of personality and patience, to do well and get regulars. Models who started a few years ago had a totally different experience from what it's like to start now. There is way more competition, and if you don't already have a ton of followers it's really hard to get them. On Chaturbate, nobody really cares about the lighting and equipment and perfect hair. You get more tips, based on if people feel personally connected to you, or if you provide something they can't get anywhere else. If you're doing the same thing everybody else is doing, or giving a lot of stuff away for free, they will just take what they can get from you and move on to someone else who is giving it away for free when they're tired. What do you have that stands out, that they can't get anywhere else and that is worth money to see? It's good if you like to chat... but man, those rooms are really slow until you get up a lot of followers, because most of them are too busy with their dick in their hand to type! So, have a plan for something to do that keeps you interested, but is not so tiring that it's sustainable for hours at a time, even if they don't talk much. Tell a story. Flirt a little. Show them a dumb trick that is non-sexual that gives some of your personality away and is kind of funny... like playing the flute with your nose. Whatever. They want someone they can feel attached to. Expect though that this will be a long haul, likely you'll have to work at it for a while before you start picking up more money. Stop spending money on making it fancy (I made that mistake also to start) and focus instead on just enjoying yourself in the room - that way even if you get very little pay, you'll feel like at least you had a good time and are not wasting your life totally. People like to see someone genuinely enjoying themselves, so over time you'll probably get more traffic, and regulars who are attached to your success.

But the idea that new cam models are overnight thousand-aires is a thing of the past. Particularly on Chaturbate I know, most people who are starting out in 2017 and after are really struggling in the first few months just to pay for equipment and a few outfits. So anyone starting out should spend only the bare minimum to get broadcasting, and focus on giving a good show that has that right balance of giving unique qualities or personality, but not giving too much away for free. It takes time to find your space, and your following. Upgrade to the better stuff when you have enough following and income to support it. All the old advice unfortunately on how to be a successful cam model doesn't seem to apply anymore, which is why I'm trying to write wherever I can to correct it. There are millions of people online competing with you now, always someone willing to set a lower price, always someone better looking. You need to be really sure of yourself, and really enjoy what you're doing and be something they can't get anywhere else in the world. If all you've got is a pussy and a pair of tits, those are going for mere pennies online now, because so many of them are free.

This is just business, not personal. Do what you want, give nothing that you don't. Show them who's boss. Respect for yourself, usually translates into respect from others (and thus, tips). BUT, it takes a while to build the following. In the meantime, block every negative asshole and user and manipulator who comes into your room. And when you're new, make sure you know the difference between a real tip, and those jerks who post a fake "tip" comment. Ban permanently anybody who posts one of those comments, trying to trick you into doing stuff for free. Look into other marketing techniques if you're comfortable, like Twitter and other social media accounts. Learn how to promote yourself like you're worth top dollar and have a buzz already (even if you technically barely have any followers yet). Camming is about fantasy. People buy image, not reality.

Probably everybody here already did the basic research, but the stuff about how to use bots and apps is also helpful, and certainly having a tip menu and using goals does help get things started. So if you don't have any goals that they're paying for, do read up on that. Games will earn a little bit too. But even with both going at the same time, plus a tip menu on top of it, Chaturbate is very slow for most new models in terms of money. Everybody's just looking to get something for free, and take advantage of the new girl. Never EVER trust what a customer tells you. They are not your pal, and are not looking out for your best interests. They will be mean, or nice, or whatever they feel like, just to get what they want out of you. Be friendly, but keep your emotional distance, and remember you are always in charge of your own room.

Note that other models say they make much better money on other sites. I have not tried them yet to confirm. It's worth considering though. Just remember that most other sites take a larger percentage of the earnings. So you have to make enough for that to be worth it in the long run.

Remember always that you're beautiful and worthwhile, and your financial success on a cam site, or lack thereof, has got nothing whatsoever to do with how hot you are, or how wonderful of a person you are. Don't ever let the pennies a guy throws at your chest determine what you know about yourself to be true, or how much you think your insides are worth. What they choose to pay, or not to pay, usually has very little to do with you, and a lot more to do with that particular guy's wallet size and ego on that given day. Sometimes they tip big just to prove they're a big man to other guys in the room. Not because they're into you at all. Don't take the job personally. All it is is a paycheck, and unfortunately, it's a pretty inexact science with an unsteady pay rate. Having photos and other things to sell on other sites can help with the income. But of course always remember, they will be around forever, you can't ever take them back. Internet sex work will always have a record.

You can silence people! If you go into your chat settings, you can choose who are silenced (grey users, users who haven’t tipped) I use it to silence the greys since they don’t have anything to bring to the table. Before then, I felt bad for even considering silencing people...but at the end of the day, it’s just business. Wasting your time on those who obviously aren’t going to pay you for your time is bad business practice.

As for the people making requests, I just tell people to leave their requests in their tip note; otherwise they run the chance of being silenced.

Balancing teasing and giving it up for free is one of the trickiest parts. But one thing that’s for certain is that you should never just give it up for free simply because you’re new. That’s BS. All that’s going to gain you is freeloaders. I suggest you sit down and think about what truly sets you apart from everyone else. Finding your niche/audience is what’s going to gain you the most income.

Thank you for taking the time to right all of this it’s really helpful and it was kind of you.

Wow, thank you for all this! Super informational and helpful and inspiring and all the things! I know it's not my thread, but I got a ton out of this. Bravo!

I have been camming for almost 2 months now and I can tell you it takes patients. There will be times you sit there for 2 to 3 hours an get a whole 10 tokens, and other times you will sign on and make 1000 tokens in five minutes. I think the biggest thing is to stick to your guns (only do things your comfortable with for the tokens you request and ignore and deny requests not meeting your needs), Promote your room to the fullest, say follow me on CB and Twitter or IG constantly including using a bot to help promote to follow you also. The more followers you can build up, the more likely people will come back on when your online. It takes time. In 2 months I have only 6,000 followers and missed the new model tag for a week because I signed up a few years ago and never used the account, but slowly and steadily I find that my average daily payout increases week to week. I have a fan club member now and regulars who contact me on twitter asking me when im coming online. Just stick it out. Patients is a virtue

I have three ways of separating people to understand chat.

1. who is participating in the current conversation get pretty immediate responses compared to the "your beautiful"-s or "i bet you'd look pretty on tops"-s with a thank you after I finish my sentences, and untipped requests get no response. Tippers get what they requested from my tip right away, then conversation continues. Trolls saying "ew look at you *insert insecurity here*" get blocked immediately.

2. In the middle of a game or tipping is frequent, those participating get my full attention, those conversating are get quick response. Complements get thank you on spare moments and untipped requests get ignored. Trolls get blocked immediately.

3. Slow night, little tipping, no games and choppy conversation. Start asking the audience, have you guys watched black panther yet? What should I have for dinner? Tippers get requests immediately. Trolls get blocked immediately.

It is very intimidating, but hey you can do this it just takes practive

Wow, speaking as a relative newbie to camming, some great advice in this thread! I have a question about privates on CB. I hope its not rude to add it into this existing thread... its marginally related and might help some CB newbies like me.

Background Info: So I really like doing privates. I err on the side of pricing them low enough that I continue to get regular requests for them. Earlier that was 12/min, now that I have 6K followers and better streaming quality I’ve upped it to 18/min. Recently I changed it again to 30, but not sure if I will keep it there or not. I don’t really have pvt “regulars” who would complain about the changes, so I’m more just experimenting to see what viewers are ready to pay to maximise my income from them. I realise that staying in public often earns more money and builds more followers, but I just find the one-on-one stuff so much more relaxed and easier. Plus since I’m still new-ish, steady pvts means steadier income than public, which is really variable for me. I’ve done other forms of SW and have found my “niche” such that even tho I’m new to camming, I do get plenty of interest immediately from guys since I already have the branding worked out to elicit effective responses.

Actual Question: Chaturbate has a feature where you can set the minimum number of minutes for a pvt. I often set the minimum to 10 minutes. I like having a minimum because I need to make a certain amount to compensate me for disrupting my public show and putting my other viewers on hold. But what should I do when a user books me for a pvt, stays for 3-4 minutes, and then leaves without completing the session? Some of them leave without saying anything (computer glitch? just rude?), and some of them explicitly ask me to end the private and go back to public broadcast. What should I do when a guy leaves the private way before his minimum time is up? Is it rude for me to just let the private keep going to pass the time so I get my minimum payment? Should I be performing in some manner? A lot of these guys are recording the privates because I allow it. So can they complain if they booked a 10 minute private with me and I ignored the camera for the last six minutes due to the fact that they left the room? Or what if I myself even leave my room and wander off to the bathroom or to grab a snack while the clock winds down? I’m just curious what other people do, what’s considered ethical, what do these guys expect, are they informed that there is a time minimum when they start the private? I don’t wanna be shitty to my customers, but I don’t want to let them off the hook of paying for 10 minutes of private after they disrupt my show for it either, especially not if they are informed about the time minimum when they initiate.

Thanks in advance for any feedback!

Following this thread!! Lots of good info.

I’ve only been on for about a week—verified for two but my first night I made $3 in 3 hours and was a little discouraged. Then, magically, a member came on my second day on cam and took me to private for 2 hours. Scheduled a time to meet me the next day too, and I’m meeting him for another private tomorrow. I really wish there was a way to book time slots for privates, although I really trust that he’ll show up in my room when he said he would. After 4 broadcasts I have almost 400 followers so I feel pretty encouraged to keep going, but it’s definitely hard to try to figure out where to draw the line and how to be sure you’re maintaining engagement. And omg don’t even start me on snap and twitter. I made the accounts and they’re basically just sitting there while I try to figure out who in the world to use them.

If you want to go save you can use booked password shows that are pretipped for an x amount of time and tokens
