Hi, so I’m very interested in a particular kink and have really been wanting to make videos for it, but I’m concerned about the account I use to share content being linked to my legal identity. I was going to use Patreon, but the way they described how tax payments worked, it seemed like the name of my account would be featured on my tax forms. I’m worried this means anyone looking at my tax records or proof of income (like future employers, or leasing offices if I decided to move).

Basically I’m wondering if I should even be concerned about that in the first place, or if there’s a good site/way to avoid the name of my account being shown on tax forms or anything. I’m only interested in posting videos, I don’t want to do any live content, but I am interested in communicating with viewers. Thanks!

If you want to make adult material, and receive pay for it, your legal identity will be linked with it no matter what. Any adult site that you sign up with to provide the content and receive payment will need your actual information to verify you’re of legal age, and to get your payment to you.

Making adult content, and especially making taboo kink content that has even more stigma to it, is a big step that requires a lot of consideration. It isn’t just something to jump into. At the very least, if you do decide to, pick a much more porn friendly site than Patreon who might actually be able to help you in case of DMCA and legal stuff. Sites that don’t outright allow adult material will just ban you and move on, leaving you hanging.

As far as it showing up on your tax documents go, if you make over a certain $ then it’ll automatically be reported to the IRS (this is assuming you live in the USA, though I imagine in some other countries it’s similar.) But most likely would not show your username/account, just the business name of the company that pays you.

I see. I guess to clarify, I’m more concerned about the account name being visible, than my legal identity being attached to the account (since I know most, if not all, sites have policies to keep that information private).

I think you really answered my biggest concern here. I am wondering if you or anyone has better site suggestions? I’m just wanting something that isn’t outright made for porn so that no one looking at tax documents or my proof of income will think anything of it.

Thanks for the reply, you’ve eased some of my concerns. It’s something I’ve been wanting to do for a long while and this is the main thing I’ve been worried about and has held me back.

if you dont want other people finding out about your camming/sex work- dont.

This is really the bottom line. If you're concerned about someone finding out, don't do it. No matter WHAT you're concerned about someone finding out. Seriously consider the ramifications of someone discovering what you're doing and decide if it's worth it. Account names, on any site, even ones that have privatization measures are not that complex to figure out if someone is determined.

The thing with proof of income can be helped by hiding behind your own LLC or a good studio. I needed proof of income for something recently and was able to obtain it through my studio which has no immediate or obvious connection with the sex industry. I said I was "in marketing" and the studio name on my stub was a marketing company.

That’s a very good point. I guess I’m more so concerned about saving myself some embarrassment in the situations I mentioned. I’m not worried about people I know finding out about it, since I’m not going to be showing my face or any distinguishing characteristics, but I am curious if you guys had more insight into what you meant by this, it sounds like there could be some possibilities I haven’t considered.

That’s a good idea and something I’ll look into if I decide to do it.

FWIW the studio I use is BoleynModels. Would highly recommend them! Hope you get it figured out :)
