Is anyone here planning to get Riptide? It comes out April 23rd.

I'm super stoked, the first game was pretty fun with such gorgeous graphics, and this one is supposed to have more guns plus a new playable character. I'm excited :D

I am not sure about this, but all of the game play I saw were fetch quests and escort missions. Everybody's favorite....right?

I love fetch quests, haha. Escort quests are the bane of my existence (escorting Ope in DI nearly killed me). Apparently the other survivors in Riptide are actually useful, though.

Useful survivors.... That sounds kind of interesting. I am not sure if I hate all fetch quests or all of the ones you have to do on Twilight Princess before you can leave the village.

I'm getting this despite not even getting into the city/town in the first game. Out of laziness, though. May start up the original and see about finishing before Tuesday, since you can bring over you original character.

I got this today :D I'm almost halfway done the main quests now.

It's very very similar to the first game - same main characters (plus a new guy!), the basic gameplay and zombies are the same. It's a new island but it's similar, so far I've just been running around in the jungle like before. Overall I think it's harder, definitely you get more zombies than last time. I chose not to import my character (because I wanted to play the new guy!), but it still starts you off pretty difficult. They do give you starter skill points to build your skill tree, though. And I find my weapons degrade more slowly.

Riptide has boss fights along the way, which is cool! And more group stuff -- you fight hordes with the other survivors, who can actually fight back unlike the original, so you can run around and help whoever needs it. This feels like online co-op to loners like me that have nobody to play with :p Graphics are about the same, so far I've had no glitches. Apparently on Steam the co-op isn't working :s

Overall I like it :D sorry for te ramble but I'm excited it's finally out and I wanted to spill my thoughts

Waogo did you end up importing a character? :D

I haven't picked it up, yet. Not sure I'm going to import, as I haven't gotten near the end of the first game, yet.

I got it today. Probably gonna trade it in tomorrow. It's just... really bad :(
Gameplay hasn't been improved upon/refined/changed at all since the first game. Ditto graphics. There's literally no invention or originality or sense of fun in the quests. It's just go somewhere to fetch an item, be told to go somewhere else to fetch another item before the item you originally went to fetch can be retrieved, kill zombies along the way (which somehow isn't as fun as it sounds) and... then do it all again. And again and again and again.
The voice acting is also horrendous.
No, sir. I am not enjoying this game :snooty:

This is why I moved my preorder to Deadpool., read a review that said if you want to repeat the first game, but worse and buggier... Yet i still picked up Star Trek. Oi. At least Dragon's Dogma's expansion is good (and included the game it expands...), if hard as hell.

Yeah, I found that with a lot of the quests. And the freakin' NPCs are so demanding! How about YOU go out and fight hoards on infected, ungrateful jerks?!

I finished the game in less than 15 hours which I think is ridiculous. I did some side quests, but not all (I felt like this game focused more on moving the plot forward than original DI did), and I feel like 15 hours gameplay for $60 is kind of a rip off. But I did have fun with it and I like some of the new tweaks, like the group fighting hoards. I wish I'd had a group of friends to play with, though!

To be fair, that is fairly common with a lot of fetch quests. GET IT YOURSELVES YOU JERKS! I can see myself enjoying this game in short bursts, much like a lot of these zombie games. House of the Dead/Dead Space: Extraction/Resident Evil rail shooters, and Left 4 Dead.

I cannot find a edit post so on the subject of fetch quests...
