I have always thought of porn as being more visual based/ directed titillation, erotica as being verbal based/ visceral/ internal titillation. Either way both can be good.

Erotica usually refers to written materials, while porn is usually video.

If I was to post a blog about how "I thrust my mighty erection deep into the cavernous recesses of her vagina, which by this point resembled a ripped-out fireplace, and let out an uncontrollable groan as creamy white liquid gushed forth from my bulbous head, covering her sticky pink cunt lips with ivory froth in the process. As she let out her own groan and rolled her eyes, I sensed she was frustrated by the best three minutes of her life coming to an end. Rather than make our parting harder still on her, I grabbed my clothes and made a swift exit as she looked at her phone and smiled, probably wanting me to believe she was happy I was leaving, but we both knew she'd never experience the sexual nirvana that I'd just gifted her with anyone else. My penis is massive" that would be erotica.

If however, I posted a video to PornHub of me balancing Jaffa Cakes on my erect penis, in spite of the obvious artistry, it would still be considered porn,

Erotica? :bookworm: Well, okay. After all, most erotica is fiction.

I consider a good chunk of what I shoot to be erotica vs. porn, specifically my tease stuff. Erotica is a genre of writing but it is also a genre of film.

I think of Erotica as both an arousing and emotional experience. Porn that makes you feel something.
I'm really into sad boners lately

I would agree. After seeing some of your preview videos, you're definitely doing more in the realm of erotica.

With porn you get given a specific experience of the erotic/ sex acts, in erotica the one experiencing it tends to create the acts based on what ideas/ images they are given.

With erotica, there's usually an implied connection other than just physical between the participants.

In my view, erotica teases, hints, alludes to it; porn says f*ck that, and gets straight down to business.

I tend to seek out one or the other, depending on my mood. What I absolutely cannot stomach is that cheesy middle ground where you get porn crudely mimicking erotica, or vice-versa.

Porn is just poor acting in the porn world and when girls make videos of there own its more of creativity and persona
erotica to me is more of a love story turned into a book/movie

50 shades of grey is an example of erotica
pornhub is porn LOL

thats the best i can give for an example and tell you the difference by the two.

Porn: close ups of genitals, explicit intercourse or masturbation, no artistic intention.

Erotica: no close ups of genitals, no intercourse or explicit masturbation. It is meant to arouse but has some artistic intent.

the formal definition of erotica refers to literature that is sexual in nature. For example, Anais Nin writes erotica.

In my personal opinion, I wouldn't rule out the word "erotica" as a way to describe something other than written prose... to me it can definitely be other forms of media (video for instance) that evoke a feeling. To me the word "erotica" also kind of makes me think of the word "taboo" too. So when I think of erotica on film, I think of some seance with naked women smearing blood on one another... or something like that.

While there were films of each during the Supreme Court reference Jerry provided, I suspect the question is about as old as human history. We don't really know where ancient civilizations would come down on us, but take a fertility icon (carving or statue) from a number of cultures of previous eras and it would be smut to our Grecian historical art training.

I'm glad we still argue it as we go, every generation should have their say about their time.

hum my take on it
erotica is like burlesque, more sizzle of a steak and less the steak sauce
porn is like an in your face strip, more the meat and less the fixings.
