I was trying to decide if this fit any of the current threads, couldn't make up my mind, so fuggit, new thread.

A model I've known for a long time(5+ years) recently said something about doing deals on Skype shows, so I asked about them and the only way she would take payment was a direct bank transfer. I neither knew how to do such a thing, or the desire to do it. When I told her that she was less than happy even when I told her I was still interested in doing a show either through manyvids or the private based site she works on, saying something along the lines of "I only get X% through there, its better for both of us my way."

I just thought it was funny that she basically used the same argument a lot of guys try to use for why models should use PayPal for payment.

Also I'm curious if this direct transfer business is even remotely common for models?

is she local? to do it internationally would come with some hefty wire fees, but maybe a better percentage if she's charging hundreds for a skype show.

uhhhh i feel like that would require real name and personally identifiable information to be necessary..... like account numbers and what not. FUCK THAT NOISE. Can't nope away from that model fast enough.

Same country, but not local to me

That was at the top of my list of concerns too, I have zero desire to even look into how to do it

Sooo I am not positive but I believe via interac email transfer you don't need account numbers and such.

It's been a while since I have done an interact transfer though. I used to do them to pay for beauty services and I think it was just email addresses used. But. Again. Not positive.

I haven't had a Canadian account in years, but Interac definitely had/has this capability. In the US you can do something similar with at least Chase and Wells Fargo, if the other person has an account at the same bank. No bank account or personal details shared, just email. From one bank to another, I think it can still be done, but I don't know for certain. I also wouldn't feel certain that you couldn't call up and ask for more details about the other party. Like PayPal, it's not meant to be a form of payment. WF or Chase would certainly close your account if you misused those features. That's much worse than having PayPal closed by far. No way in hell I'd ever take payments that way.

I just mean 'local' in contrast to 'international'. it's very affordable to wire fellow citizens money. whereas it could cost around $30-50 per transaction to wire money overseas. ... for a $50 Skype show that's as bad as tokens, but for a $200 Skype show, you might be better off.

Don't do it.

don't do porn.

Some one was trying to preasure Johndoe91 into doing some thing he was uncomfortable doing. If your not comfortable doing some thing, Don't do it, It's just that simple.

Wire Transfers are not a normal way to pay for goods or services. It's a risky process for both parties. It's also a common vector for fraud, theft, viruses, scams. hacking. Having the info to do a wire transfer is enough information to do some serious damage. And there can be tax issues on both ends.

Canadian-to-Canadian e-mail transfers can be completely anonymous for both parties (you can use any name and e-mail address you want on your banking profile), so I've used them to accept payments many times. If that's what she means by direct transfer, it's pretty darn safe. That said, not sure how many banks/countries offer that, and international banking is much trickier.
