I know Chaturbate encourages you to greet all users that come to your room, especially coloured names, and this is literally as soon as they enter the room.
Now personally, I don't always like being greeted and it can be for different reasons.

So, I am curious for members: do you prefer when a model says "hello [name]" to you specifically, whether it's them typing it or speaking it?
Do you prefer only specific models doing It (ones you are a big regular for, for example)?

Models, what is your take on this? What do you find overall? What do you prefer as a model to do with guys? Do you always try to say welcome to them and mention names, or is it only regulars/tippers you do it to, or how is it from your point of view?
I assume it would vary as well based on the platform? Do other platforms say "user has entered the room" and "user has left the room" on other platforms? It does for CB, and it even shows it for moderators (why? I have no idea).

I know a lot of members don't like it but I make a lot more money when I do, so I always say hi although via message rather than spoken out loud. Sometimes I'll leave it for a minute or so, like I'll give them time to read my profile/get a vibe.

I'm on a private based site though, so will be different for token based sites like CB. I was on Stripchat for a bit and I think my mind would melt if I tried to say hello to all of them haha.

It irks me when they ignore me though, like the least they can do is have the decency to respond if they're sat there watching/enjoying my stream.

The following refers to SM only...

I try to only speak to new guys if they speak to me first. I want to give them time to read, observe, and get comfy.
I also don't want them to feel pressured. I don't mind lurkers as long as they don't try to take too much attention in free chat ie I want them to stay quiet.
So they can stay as long as they want as long as they are silent, and as long as they say a simple "hi" back, if at some point I say hi to them.
I will say hello first to regs I'm comfy with and know better. Unless it's a reg who I have learned doesn't seem to like that, in the past.

On SM it tells us when people enter and leave, and it is very common for the same names to hop in and out constantly, without saying much.
Guys can also set their public chat to "invisible" on there, so only the model can see.
Many seem to do that

I had a guy, last shift, do it while we were mid talking. So he was chatting publically, and within a second he was suddenly chatting invisible.
I caught it and thought "Wow they can change mid convo".

The model can also set her type bigger (I do), which means that when her room is busy, chat will move really fast.
So it's impossible to respond to every single question and comment at that point.
The screen moves too fast (ie stuff pops off the bottom way quickly).
But I don't wanna wear glasses all of the time, or sit super close the whole shift.

i always wait to be greeted. i think im still on top rows of the front page on streamate, so my room is a revolving door of people popping in and out. My chat is usually busy, and I try to talk to everyone who talks to me. i dont greet my regs with a high room rating, because they might be lurking and not ready for a show or attention, so it's best to be patient. throughout my time, i've learned if i say hello to people with room ratings, it scares them away.

in goldshows countdowns, i try to say thank you to every person who tips into my show, but when the show starts i don't. but if a goldshow reg who likes to interact and/or tip more than minimum during them joins in late, i do like to say hey to them and acknowledge their presence. maybe make a comment just in time because i do appreciate them and am happy to see them. they make countdowns less boring for me with their additional contribution. this is only if i see them. when im doing my shows im not paying too much attention to my chat.

on streamate i have guest alerts for freechat disabled but i do have them on for paid shows. sound and chat alert. i've had this setup since i was a baby cammodel. having a record of people coming in and out was discouraging, and it can clutter my chat. i have my text set on the largest, so i have limited chat space. on streamate models have a separate paid chat room, so it's nice to keep track of people coming in and out.

I try to greet everyone, and also say something personal without being personal. Helps me, and I think it helps them. If I notice someone is quiet whilst I am talking to others I may just mention them in a "Hope you are ok there" acknowledgement.

I didn't realise CB encouraged models to greet visitors. Sometimes I pop in to get a better view than the thumbnail and don't notice the PM or chat .... I have returned after browsing other rooms and been greeted with "you came back!" occasionally, which used to surprise me as the model hadn't really made an impression on me.
So, I prefer it if they didn't but it doesn't put me off.

It depends on the situation for me, but more often than not, I enjoy being greeted.

- If I’m a regular, I enjoy being , because the model and I have usually chatted / engaged in tipping activities before. It’s nice to be remembered in that context.

- If I’m in a room that is new to me - or very infrequent - I don’t expect or necessarily want to be greeted. But, if they greet me, I’ll be polite and say hi back.

- If the model is busy performing all bets are off, and I won’t necessarily expect a greeting even if they “know” me. The show comes first obviously.

That said, a few models I visit go above and beyond (in my opinion) with greetings and I always appreciate the effort. Examples:

- A handful greet me out loud by my first name, not my username, which they only know from talking to me in the past. I don’t expect that from any model but I know it requires extra effort and attention to detail on their parts, and I appreciate the gesture.

- Three models in particular will greet me both verbally and with a quick PM every single time I enter, no matter what. One of them is a high Page 1 CB model who is almost always super busy. Again - I don’t expect that, but I know it’s not easy and I appreciate the gesture very much.

I guess the point there is that no matter if I like or dislike (or am indifferent to) being greeted, I am always appreciative of models that clearly go out of their way to be a great host.

Remembered, or recorded? It's my understanding that visitors tip history is visible to models, as well of course as the chat history. It's all part of the illusion I guess. that people want to pay for.

I'm on CB. I have both "Notify on Entry For" and "Notify on Leave For" turned off for all users. I never see who is entering or leaving my room. It's way too overwhelming and also discouraging.

I also have a perv account and I hate being greeted as soon as I enter a room. Like, nothing will get me to leave a room faster than to be greeted before I even say anything. I disliked it so much that I made my color light blue, but people would still see that I had a lot of tokens so I stopped holding so many tokens. Now, I only visit a handful of people occasionally and never venture away to find anyone new, which kinda sucks because it's fun to browse around and make someone's day.

Because I don't see people entering my room and because I personally don't like being immediately greeted, I do not greet anyone until they write something in chat first.

If I were on a private based site, I would probably do things a bit differently. Like, if someone was hanging out without saying anything for a few minutes maybe I would shoot them a little hello message if I wasn't busy.

It's always nice to be noticed ofcourse, being in a new room or familiar one. I only visit 2 models regularly and enjoy their sometimes enthusiastic welcome. Makes me feel welcome.
Same as the goodbye. This one time the room was so full of people talking, I left without saying goodbye. About a minute later I get a goodbye pm. I very appreciated that.

I'm like @Brit, on CB I have changed the settings to ignore notifications for users with tokens entering or leaving the room. It's just too distracting.
Personally, with the models I visit regularly, I always tip on entry to the room. Might be seen as a bit goofy, but it's my initial "hello", especially if things are busy. And I don't expect any acknowledgement in return.
But in the past, it has freaked me out a little when entering a new room, to immediately get a "hello <username>". I really understand that often the model is being welcoming, but sometimes it can feel more like "I see you're here and I expect you to contribute". Not an issue if I'm a returning visitor, because I will be tipping anyway, but in the first few seconds of a first visit, gauging the model and the room vibe, it can feel loaded with pressure.
That said, a "hello" from a new model is a lot less off-putting than a PM on entry "hi BB, wanna go private?" :)

if you hate being greeted or just want to get to know the room first simply open the window incognito. The only con is some models run bots that only send tip menu to logged in users...not sure why some bot authors do that.

Incognito means you're subjugated to the tip sound. Sure, you can mute the tab entirely, but then you miss out on the actual sexy sounds. :( Imagine watching a porn and every time something hot happens you hear "cha-ching! cha-ching! cha-ching". Huge mood killer, at least for me.

You can still mute the tip sound in the chat settings, i feel like there was some issue with that a while back now that you mention it 🤔 but seems to work fine now.

When I first started camming, I used to greet every single member and asked them how they’re day was going. Obviously a lot of guys would just up and leave the chat without a word. Never bothered me, I would keep on asking since I felt that was common courtesy to do so.

However, my chat is constantly full (by streamate standards) right when I get online to the end of my shift. So I don’t greet every single person like I used to. I do always greet my regulars and I always try to acknowledge everyone in my room that participates in my chat. Now it has become members saying hello in my chat rather me saying hello.

Idk about any other models, but to me, greeting a model shows that you recognize that she is human. Not just some remote control fuck toy. But saying hi and then a demand is a sure way to block central for me.

“Hi bb, show puss”, like wow, how kind of you to greet and think I’m a robot. Would you like the crust cut off your sandwich too? Tell me bb.

But I troll the fuck out guys too that are rude, impolite and lack common courtesy.

As a buyer, I'm the type who doesn't want to be greeted. It's a privacy thing, as well as a time/ pressure thing (for me). If I was to give a model my real name to moan in a show or something, I would not be keen on them then using it in the public chat in front of everyone. That's just the type I am. If they did, I wouldn't dump them over it, but I would mention it and politely ask that they try not to do that in future, in my individual case. If they then still did it a bunch more, then I would take that as a signal to visit that specific model less, going forward (i.e. that they are probably already busy enough, and absolutely fine, without my support).

I do not want to be greeted when I enter a new models room (as in new to me), I want to relax and chill, feel the vibe. If I knew a model from repeated visits and had a good rapport, I'd be happy to be greeted by my screen name only, upon first entering.

I'm one of those people who doesn't need to be greeted when I go into stores either. A quick nod, or a non verbal is all I need. I feel pressured and anxious when they roll the red carpet out, you know. Because I don't even know if I'm spending anything yet, and I very well might not.

Someone mentioned above that when they say hi to a user that enters, and they don't say hi back.
This is the reason I hate being greeted.

I am always a very polite guy, and there can be many reasons I may not want to stay in the room, so if you say hi and I am wanting to leave immediately and I know I won't be wanting to stay and tip, I feel really bad and like a proper arsehole now for not saying hello back.

With a model I am a regular in, and I know I will talk/tip then I definitely don't mind. With those, obviously if it's an "in and out" job before I have time to say hi, I will obviously apologize and explain the next time I see them - but those ladies always know I would not be rude on purpose and not say hello back.

Sometimes it's just nice to want to blend into the background, it can truly depend on your mood.

Wow... a lot of interesting views and all good stuff for a newbie like me. I'm still trying to figure out my thing and trying new things each time I broadcast. I almost always say hi when someone comes in my room, but not right away. But, I do notice some people leave as soon as they are noticed. I get that. Like a few people have said, when I am visiting a model that is new to me I don't always want to be noticed until I figure out if I want to hang around. But, I like it when the couple models I visit with regularly say hi to me when I come in for a visit. I think when

When I am broadcasting I think I say hi to almost everyone because I am not so busy that I notice who is coming and going and say hi just to make sure I can speak. 🤷‍♂️

I feel like this is a topic where you’ll find members at both ends of the spectrum. Not only based on the situation, but the personality of each member.

Some members crave the interaction and attention. Some probably get scared away or turned off by it. Different preferences, moods, social attitudes and even anxiety or introversion could all play a role.

In a related, but different way, when I wear the moderator hat I am very aware of the different reactions from viewers.
Some people are more showy, and like to draw attention to themselves - either generally in chat, or by commenting on their own tips.
Others don't like to engage at all, and will either ignore attempts to chat, or sometimes just leave.
Some regulars do not even engage in chat with the model, yet they return again and again and always show their appreciation.
I try to interact with viewers but will wait until I have become more aware of their style before engaging with them.
I am definitely not one of those mods that writes thanks to each tipper, as though on behalf of the model......

I don't like when a model greets me as a non regular. Honestly I never go into a new room with the sound on. It's just too crappy sometimes. Also I don't want to upset anyone by not greeting back.

I don't consider it rude, I understand everything that has been explained here I'd rather say "Hi" than not, in real life I used to be really ignorant and recently stayed in a exceptional too-end hotel where everyone said "Hi" but in a non-intrusive way. I am one of those 'don't approach or fuss me' people, but I realised the reason I felt relaxed was because there wasn't any pressure or expectation.

Haha yesss, I also love trolling rude people. I have a few room regulars who enjoy trolling them with me, it's a nice way to bond with the people who actually give a shit about me.

I like to let people lurk and decide to interact with me when they're ready instead of put them on the spot, but I always greet people who greet me first or send a tip. As a viewer I really dislike it when I go into a slow room to lurk and a model immediately DMs me so when I'm on the other side of things I prefer to leave the ball in their court. Otherwise I feel like I'm pestering people and putting pressure on them to participate, which can be off putting and have the opposite intended effect. I also have enter and exit notifications off for everyone but mods and fan club members to reduce clutter in chat, and part of the reason I do this is because quite often people will get disconnected from chat and then immediately reconnect and it will show notifications both times. I don't even have follow notifications on for me, but new followers do get an automated thank you message that only they can see.

I try to be really strategic with my alerts and rotating notifications so that it sits in the golidlocks zone of not being too spammy but also showing up often enough to be informative, and so if my room starts to get busy that balance is ruined by getting all of those notifications and obliterating chat so I can't even keep up.

I do as well! I love having regulars who join in on stuff like that, it's so fun. They also troll me too sometimes 😂

Yes, I can pull up spending history, but not chat. And how that information is used will be different for every performer. I'd say the majority of performers here probably record and remember things about their clients. I don't think your reply I've quoted from is implying anything, but I really dislike when members seem to think we are somehow doing something underhanded when they realize we can take notes on their accounts.

Rant: How many members come through a room during a shift, and the performer took their time to make a note on you to jog their memory? More effort made than most members will ever get. Even if I have extensive notes on someone, amid alllll the people I interact with, it is work to connect the person to the username on my screen. Like, you are (for the most part) represented by glyphs in a chat window, so it kind of all runs together unless I do my work well and force imprint something in my memory. And storage space is not unlimited. Limited resources require thoughtful use.

If I just see that someone has spent money on me and say WOW HI YOU ARE BACK TO GIVE ME MORE!, that's not going to be as impactful as if I can actually connect to them as an individual in some way.

So, is that decision likely based on a developing transactional relationship that I foresee will be financially beneficial to me to pursue? Yeah, of course, because I'm at my job to make money. That's the understanding I expect from the members who visit me. If they don't get that and they dislike the idea that I would give different attention to spenders vs non-spenders, well, okay bye. 😂

I never understand if I should greet them when they enter the room or not. Sometimes I leave them for 5-10 minutes until they settle down, and if I see that they don't greet, I greet them. Some apologize saying they weren't on the PC, others how I greet them, how they go out. It seems to me respect to say hello when you enter somewhere. At least that's what they can do, if they just sit and watch. 🙄

For me, it is nice to be welcomed as a returning visitor, in the same way that I enjoy being known by name at my local coffee shop, and my order being remembered.
That's one of the tricks of sales and hospitality, forming a link with the customer, making them feel welcomed and remembering what they like. More likely to return to a welcoming environment.
The username 'notes' feature on CB is a really useful way of remembering someone's name, location, likes etc. and I'm appreciative when it is used.
I do wonder though if some don't enjoy being greeted because it acknowledges their presence in the room but they may have intended to lurk and not contribute.
