does DMCA actually work?

Im planning on getting dmca to take down pirated videos of me, however does it actually work? Have any of you used it? if so, what have been your experiences?

I did try it for a model but if id did not for me. However, I did have 100% success when I did it for my work not related to camming.

There are two sides to this,

1 sending DMCA yourself, so email the dmca to the site and the webhost.
2 you asking the platform that your content was originally on for example PornHub or chaturbate and they send a DMCA on your behalf.

I suggest you try both. The second has a higher change of success.

Finding, Keeping up with, requesting all the DMCA can be a full time job.
Personally I would rather spend my time doing something that fills my life with joy. Or at least makes me money.

Before pursing DMCA check out Sending DMCA requests.

Do not fill out a DMCA notice yourself with your personal/real contact information.

If content is taken from your video stream on the cam site you use, contact the cam site's model support with the links to the videos/pictures and ask them to take care of it for you. Not only does this limit your exposure directly to the content hosts, but it's actually the cam site's property anyway. Even if it is content that you recorded yourself to sell via that cam site, you can still ask for their help in getting the content removed. Sending a DMCA yourself should be the last resort, and even then, do NOT include your real contact information. Use your stage name, your stage name email address, etc.

Sending personal/real contact info to content hosts is RISKY for your personal safety. We go to great lengths to keep our real contact info secret to reduce the risk of "the crazies" using it against us somehow. There HAVE been numerous cases where girls have sent DMCA requests directly to the content site and have been harassed incessantly and blackmailed. IT HAPPENS. And this may just be my personal opinion I'm injecting, but getting a video taken off of some shady site isn't worth risking harassment and blackmail.

If you think my wording in this post seems dramatic and overly cautious, that's fine. But too many cam girls are misinformed about this process, even by fellow models who sound like they know what they're doing. I don't want bad advice falling into the wrong hands and causing unnecessary drama for an unknowing girl who thought she was doing the right thing.

Here at ACF I like to give everyone the benefit of sharing their ideas and opinions and advice, but going forward I will delete or edit any posts advising girls to search out their content and send personal DMCA's to the sites/hosts. You may think yours is better information than mine, but I won't allow ACF to be a place to post that advice.

It's unfortunate that so many newcomers to camming seem to feel it's just part of their job to deal with DMCA/takedowns... It isn't necessary but there's so much talk about it and seemingly a lot of pressure by veteran models to worry about it.

Just to add, some times claiming videos can be profitable.
Like claiming vides on Porn Hub.

While some of the other free porn sites don't support claiming.
If you look at how many views some of these videos can get over the cores of a few years.
I wonder if it would be profitable to get a head of it, self post, and get the revenue.

It seems to me too that most of models just don't care and (almost) thanks this free advertising for their room

For me DMCA is expensive. only free using DMCA mark on profile doenst help- u are still recorded. Once i wrote to DMCA If they can remove the videos so they wanted $200 for remove videos and 100 more for make sure that they wont appear again That was more than one year ago,maybe something changed

I feel like there is some confusion in this thread.

Dmca is the digital millennium copyright act. It refers to a document you can send to a person or company to assert your ownership over an artistic work. It does not cost anything.

There are companies set up who will send dmca notices on your behalf. These allow you to maintain privacy. These are what can cost $$. If you use these please shop around!

The watermark on your cam feed mentioned earlier means nothing either. Most recorded feeds are done by bots. Watermarks are good for two purposes. 1 if they have ur name or site it can expedite identification and help ppl who see ur pirated content find you. So: advertising
2 if you send dmca notice and it is ignored and if you then are able to find the person responsible and sue them under US law, if they have altered your watermark there is potential for more damages.

But if you're going to sue you're better off registering copyright quarterly on all ur content. If you decide to sue for copyright and u have registered it, you do not have to prove damages to win.

Yes. Nearly all camsites will send dmca free on your behalf, some for content they dont even own (as in your stolen
pre made videos)

It was one payment for all videos. I was asking them to delete videos from site camtube.com which is FINALLY deleted,but that time they recorded us everyday.
