Okay, so I finally signed up for SM, and I know that caming can be hard well that's what I read, but I'm a little discouraged. Most of the users come in for a quick second, and leave any tips to grab attention or advice?

It's very normal for guys on SM to come in and leave quickly. On other sites guys may wait to get a feel for the room but I feel like on SM guys are more just looking for something specific and popping in and out to see if you have whatever it is that they're looking for. You should trouble shoot the quality of your stream first and foremost.

Do you have an HD webcam? Is your laptop hardwired rather than using wifi? Are you using the encoder or broadcaster or just using the website? How long did you stay online? Because SM ranking is dependent on how many hours you spend online it takes a while to build up your ranking. It can just be dead sometimes too and that doesn't mean you can't or won't be able to make a good income there.

It's not uncommon to have a shitty first day or 5.

My tips would be...

1. Get good equipment. Easiest would be a good webcam first, then use the broadcaster if your computer can handle it. Then internet, and eventually a better computer if you need it.
2. Make sure you don't look like poop on cam, ergo lighting and such. No grainy cams and such.
3. Get 5 star ratings, you need at least 5 for a good placement boost.
4. Get hours in and consistency. What I like to do when I'm low is just hop on for about 2-3 days, 2-4 hours each day and just put those hours in. Don't even focus about money. If it's slow and you want to not die of boredom do something interesting. Sometimes I play my DS but don't show it. Sure, you may not get as many shows but I find it worth it in the end. Because you're not feeling discouraged while you're trying to build up to a higher rank.
5. Smile. Smile smile smile. I cannot emphasize how much of a difference this makes for me. It's hard to keep it up, but it's worth it.

In addition to what everyone said....today especially was a slow day...popping in and out happened to me half of the night...is not uncommon, and if you consider the fact that it was a holiday in the US, it might make sense that it was so...last sat i made 116$ while this one I only made 46 or so...

As frustrating as having people pop in and out of your SM room is, its totally normal actually. Even when you're a top model, that's still going to happen. Consistency is key though with SM. Work the same shift, same hours, every day and you'll get more guys who will start sticking around. It takes a little while, but you should be starting to see great progress after a month or two or so, just develop good cam habits.

I had tons of people come in and stay but no tippers and one extremely short private. My husband I cam together. We set prices and we're firm. We did everything but get into it on cam and still nothing. Tons of people watching but no one spending. We have no idea what to do differently. We didn't even need to fake having fun. We were so horny by the end of it we turned our cam off and went crazy. They missed a hell off a show.

SM tends to be a site where teasing in free chat leads to fewer folks tipping or going private. If they're already getting a show for free, they're much less likely to pay.

There are also an infuriating number of members who think that if you're doing ANYTHING, you're "too busy" for a show.... Even though that's the whole reason you're broadcasting.

On the other hand, I've seen people get shows fast teasing, making out, even sucking dick *just* out of frame, so that can work as well.

Different approaches work for different people. Don't get discouraged, just experiment with different approaches until you find the one that works.

Another thing to play around with is time slot. I can get on at a certain time, and have nothing but freeloaders for my first hour, log off, get back on two hours later, and be busy then. So try out a couple different times of day, too, if you can.

Thank you. I would have been pretty frustrated watching and not getting any hood stuff myself.
