Ok, sorry to post multiple questions lately! Just looking for some advice.

A friend of mine is very sweet, but very naive, and extremely lacking in street smarts. Over the course of the pandemic, she has become increasingly obsessed with a lot of super artistic, aesthetic instagram accounts run by girls who have their OnlyFans linked in their bios. She doesn't seem to understand that while they are indeed 🔥 accounts, they were made with the purpose of promoting OF. None of these girls have their real identities linked in any way, at least not from what I've seen.

She has brought up making an OnlyFans for a long time, and finally a few days ago she told me that she wants to make one, and link it to her personal instagram account. We went over the reasons this would be a bad idea, however, we didn't get too far into ALL the reasons it could be bad. She is from a very conservative culture that is not exactly known to be friendly to SW, and I went over all the reasons that this could potentially very damaging and dangerous to her if her OF was linked to her real life. She insisted that if she did it, it had to be on her page because of ??? unclear reasons (she is not someone with 10000 followers or anything) but ultimately thanked me for my opinion and said she probably wouldn't do it.

Anyways, as title says, today she has done it. I worry because she has only seen the very sanitized, aestheticized version of SW these girls present on IG, and because she views them as so edgy and cool, she wants that clout that she views as coming along with having an OnlyFans. I know that for most baby SW they do have to learn things on their own, but that being said, this is....a lot. For my own peace of mind, I'm going to have one more conversation about it, and then let it go and make my mind accept that it's out of my control.

So my question is in two parts: a) What are some of the things I can warn her about? If you guys have any real life examples of problems this has caused for people, that would be really helpful. I'm going to talk to her about how it could affect her future career, especially as we met in art school but the field we studied (that she was still in, but is in between gigs) is male dominated and known for sexual harassment. I'm also going to explain to her that she has to be ok with these pictures being on the internet forever, potentially being sent to her family, etc etc, because she has one of those legal disclaimers on her page about not stealing her photos because they are copyrighted, and she thinks that is enough. And b) All that being said, I have a feeling she won't take it off her page, which at the end of the day is her prerogative. So, what kind of safety tips can I give her if she is going to keep it up? I've already had talks with her before about not posting photos on Instagram that publicly show where she lives etc etc. But I don't really know what else to say, because while I do know all my SW safety tips, I would never in all my years have linked my porn to anything related to my real life. Anyways sorry for the essay, thank you if you read this far!!

**PS: I wanna state that I'm not judging any of you if you have your OnlyFans linked to your personal account., you do you!! I am specifically worried about her because of her conservative culture, naivete, and idealized view of SW.

Ok I don't want to be alarmist but I m very active in Twitch communities and support many and already there, women that provide "general content/gaming" are being tracked, stalked, harassed, terrorized into their real lives and in the worst cases.... killed(that was IG influencers that I didn't know personally about but it did happen).

I don't have everything in mind with my memory issues but very recently one got called on livestream by someone that claimed he had her dad *hostage* and that she had to show her tits on livestream or he would die, he didn't have her dad hostage , but gave specific and true information about where he was living, so he did went there *at some point*, and she never posted anything from his home, she obviously got scared to death.
And they try to be very careful with their personal life..

Of course the bigger you are on the socials, the more people see you and more probability to have psychos in them.
The sex work adds to it to it as mentally unstable people will get driven by their more "primal" brain even more than in general content
Having "only" her pictures and videos shared to her friends and family would be the least of her worries.

I don't even know her and I'm very worried just knowing this. 🥺

Of course those are WORST case scenarios, but it is the reality we live in and you have to protect yourself from the real world.

My advice would be to create a pro IG related to her OF and start from there if she likes the clout, this is the way.
Good luck to you for the next conversation, good on you for trying hard 💙

There have been so many times I'm watching a pretty Twitch lady out doing an IRL stream and being so completely careless about showing her surroundings and having people "stream snipe" by literally walking up to her and starting a conversation. I cringe at how little attention these Twitch streamers pay to their personal security. I was watching JadeyAnh the late night that she had someone continually ringing her doorbell while she was home alone. I was like "this is why ALL online entertainers need to protect their information."

Oh god, maybe she should see how weird her DMs get and that might be a reality check? I'm sure it'll stop being glamorous then.

By the sounds of things I don't know if she's really cut out for the adult industry, so it might not even go that far, especially considering OF doesn't promote or anything.

If she's looking for clout/respect/attention/a confidence boost, then sex work is not the place to find it. She might come to her senses when she really works out what it's about.

But safety tips... metadata on pics needs to be wiped, check the background of her pics to see if there's any sign of where she's from... tagged locations... tagged pics? Like you know on IG you can tag your friend in a pic, make sure she untags herself from them. Omg there's just so many things. l feel for you OP I'd be so stressed if this was my friend.

I remember hearing about a cam girl who bought a new house and someone had researched all the houses recently sold in her area until he found one that had similar windows or something and was able to get her real name and address.

Even with a strictly professional persona, 9/10 messages are from guys ready to buy a plane ticket in the midst of a pandemic for the chance to date me.

While we like to think of ourselves as entertainers and artists, there is still a very real reality that our audience includes those who are lonely to the point of obsession, sexually motivated to stalk, or otherwise just legit think we are sluts who want them.

I would rather be overly cautious and live double lives than to be careless and have someone show up to my house. I don't want to have to kill a dude cuz he likes my tits too much, ya know? Not worth it.

I use to put my business email on my profile page and even took that off. I could not believe the creepy emails I use to get from some of my viewers from CB. Sorry there are just way too many weirdos that use cam sites, and some really do form an unhealthy obsession with you. And when you try to tell them to stop contacting you...do not take no for an answer. There is nothing glamorous about a member/members who will stop at nothing to track you down, or even get your attention. I have a few “crazed” users that over the course of the last year have created over 700 accounts to get around being banned by me. I can’t even imagine what they would do or be capable of doing if they had access to my real social media.

On the flip side, if she thinks having an OF isn't going to hurt any outside career or relationships she has, it's a bit naive. In my old job, one of my coworkers had an OF and another coworker found it, subscribed to it, and took screenshots just to tell our boss so she would get fired. That's actually how I learned what OF was. 😂
That’s awful, I do not understand why some people find the need to be vindictive.

The majority of the world's population is sex negative, prone to moral panic attacks and sticklers for rules. Our understanding and morals is simply seen as perverted. I've been dismissed as "dirty old man" more times than I care to think about, but it's much worse for women to be branded something similar.

Thank you guys for the replies!!! I'm going to lay out of a lot of the points you made....I honestly haven't had the talk with her yet, I've been moving and getting settled and it's been sooooo overwhelming. But I'm hopefully gonna talk to her today, and after that, it's out of my control. I just want her to be safe.
