I was about to post a generic krs-one song and not surprise anyone... But I decided to go back to the blast from my past and really try to enjoy things. I bring you "arrested development: Mr Wendal"

Arrested Development - Mr. Wendal

Amazing lyrics that should really hit home with those willing to listen:

Here, have a dollar,
in fact no brotherman here, have two
Two dollars means a snack for me,
but it means a big deal to you
Be strong, serve God only,
know that if you do, beautiful heaven awaits
That's the poem I wrote for the first time
I saw a man with no clothes, no money, no plate
Mr.Wendal, that's his name,
no one ever knew his name cause he's a no-one
Never thought twice about spending on a ol' bum,
until I had the chance to really get to know one
Now that I know him, to give him money isn't charity
He gives me some knowledge, I buy him some shoes
And to think blacks spend all that money on big colleges,
still most of y'all come out confused

[CHORUS:] Go ahead, Mr.Wendal (2x)

Mr.Wendal has freedom,
a free that you and I think is dumb
Free to be without the worries of a quick to diss society
for Mr.Wendal's a bum
His only worries are sickness
and an occasional harassment by the police and their chase
Uncivilized we call him,
but I just saw him eat off the food we waste
Civilization, are we really civilized, yes or no ?
Who are we to judge ?
When thousands of innocent men could be brutally enslaved
and killed over a racist grudge
Mr.Wendal has tried to warn us about our ways
but we don't hear him talk
Is it his fault when we've gone too far,
and we got too far, cause on him we walk
Mr.Wendal, a man, a human in flesh,
but not by law
I feed you dignity to stand with pride,
realize that all in all you stand tall

Mr.Wendal, yeah yeah yeah, Lord, Mr.Wendal

Any love for Aesop Rock on here? He has a really weird flow. You either love him or hate him.

I can get down to pretty much anything by Kendrick Lamar.

Yes, very much. Ever since I discovered Labor Days so many years ago. His verbosity is unparallelled.

"No Regrets" is probably his most lyrically accessible song. At least, I can't think of any other songs that are exclusively his that are easier to understand. Probably sounds kind of silly, but as a 36-year-old art hermit, I identify so much with Lucy.

I like cleverness. I like surprises and challenges. His stuff gives me what I like.

Have you heard anything from The Uncluded, his collaboration with Kimya Dawson? It's a trip.

Get By by Talib Kewli. The piano in this song really does it for me.

Ahh, Talib. I love his music and even paid for VIP tickets to his concert which included a Meet 'N Greet. He talked to every person there except me. The moment I approached him to say hello and tell him how much I enjoyed the show he turned around and left the venue. The rest of his crew were cool and we got pics together and talked for a while. Not sure what his deal was. Needless to say I haven't listed to any of his music since then. I just can't get down to assholes.

Anyway, I've been on a Logic kick for a few months. Here are a few of my favs. :)

:character-oldtimer: Well back in my day...

A couple the Russian twerkers turned me on to...

This one makes me cry. Tears streaming down face, blowing nose, the works. Not sure why. :crybaby:
