My understanding of the US use of "thick" is that it refers to a lady is very curvaceous in the hips/butt/thighs area. At least, that's what I've deduced from watching rap videos praising thick girls.

The term 'thick' seems to be very subjective.

Personally, I would describe a thick woman more like being bigger boned, a little chunkier yet solidly built with proportionately feminine curves. For example:
