tonyxtreme... i was going to blow off your lil douche bag comment... but it was to inviting to ignore

first off i've never said i know everything about computers... but i do let people know i'm an experienced IT worked so i don't get lumped in with the hobbyist and know-it-all's that are bitter they aren't in the IT industry and tossing out bullshit solutions

second... i did admit bluexdakota was right and i was wrong... and i'd like to think i did it with a lil grace... which was obviously a topic you slept through when you went to charm school

third... VPN might offer security but it's going to add latency, jitter, and general QoS issues to a video environment and potentially slow down a models connection which doesn't make it an appropriate solution (see my 1st point)

lastly... i'll put up anything you know about the TCP/IP stack against what i know any day of the week if you want to be a rude lil bitch about it

I recommend that you check out the "threw/through" thread. If there is not a "to/too/two" entry, I'll be glad to post one. It doesn't matter what or how much you know. If you can't communicate properly, your message will be greatly diminished, or ignored.

I'll let Tony respond to the rest, except: this thread dealt with IP security on email and email headers, nothing was said about video. For what it's worth, I have been a tele-commuter for 7 or so years. I regularly have video conferences and web seminars with no problems using a S/W VPN. It's common knowledge that S/W VPNs are very inefficient compared to H/W solutions. FYI, I have a "medium" speed residential cable ISP with averages of 7/.75.

One last thing:

You should have gone with your first thought. This post did nothing to enhance your IT credentials, or anything else, for that matter.

bodisha (plus one other ACF member) was actually the inspiration for my threw/through thread.

As I posted somewhere in that thread, having consistent word misuse makes a knowledgeable poster sound less believable. I think the last post is evidence of that.

You can't brush off this site as some unimportant porn blog and then make a big deal when someone questions your IT training and your posts on the blog, that's pretty contradicting. This isn't a blog anyway, it's a forum!

Relax, anyway. These tiffs are only as serious as the participants make them out to be. Who gives a shit? Getting defensive shows you do. And that's not directed just at you, bodisha, it's anyone on this forum who gets their panties in a twist when someone questions something they write.
