Sounds like he would be happy to pay child support as long as he got sex out of it. Be a worry though if he had 137 children like one of the donors that made it into the papers recently.
The rest of the responses are pretty amazing. "Gays should not be allowed to have children" and "sperm donation should not be allowed" both stick out.

That is really stupid. The couple isn't going after him, but the state wants to get him for child support. I understand why the couple had to admit to the paternity of the child because even in my state, if you were raped and don't know the identity of the father, they will not help you with assistance with vouchers for food or childcare for the child until you can get back up on your feet. I'm sure they probably thought it was mostly for record keeping rather than trying to go out and get him for child support.
We are going through something like that with my aunt who got pregnant but didn't want to put the father on the birth certificate because of what had happened and the fact that he pretty was was trying to use the child to stay in the country. Social Services wouldn't even glance at her papers since she didn't have a father written on it and truth be told, she doesn't really even know his name considering the incidence in which the baby was conceived that wasn't her fault.
I feel terrible for this man, though. You try to do something nice for someone and then you get punished for it. We tried to use a donor a few years ago ourselves because adoption isn't an option in our area and I don't know what I would do if something happened and we needed assistance briefly and couldn't get it without getting it from the person who was nice enough to allow us to start a family on our own. Sperm banks are a lot more expensive and usually take several times before anything sticks, whereas we liked that I had known our donor and was close with him since early grade school.
We were very financially stable at the time and he wasn't. : /

Man I know states are desperate for money but this is just stupid. The state is going to spend way more than $6,000 that it hopes to collect in legal fees.
And of course as matter of justices and fairness it is just offensive.The head of the Kansas Children and Families should stop the madness or be fired.
