I kind of remember a post about programs that would be good for extra protection and such. Well I have a new computer and am having issues with it. I want to see if its my computer or crappy Firefox. Help please?

Personally, I loved Firefox, but it started to shut down my computer. Turns out there's a glitch where it all of a sudden starts to use way more RAM then necessary, and it kind of overwhelms your computer. I uninstalled it, started using Chrome, and haven't had a problem since.
If you think you have a virus, AVG has a free anti-virus program you can use.

These are the ones I use all the time. All free. So if you've got one asking for money, you installed the wrong version.

Chrome and Firefox (Dragon and IceDragon) but WAY more secure. (from a company that does security software). So the program you need that can only run on Firefox should run on IceDragon as well. They started with the same browser just beefed up all the security settings.
And pretty much any other software that is free on their page is good too. So explore the tabs on the left!!!

Off hand no. But the first thing I would do is a complete uninstall. Then restart your computer in safe mode and reinstall it. (F8 at startup and choose safe mode). That will usually take care of any conflicts it has with other drivers that may be started up by other programs.Isis29 said:Thanks! Any idea why Firefox might hate my computer? I am loosing money because it acts retarded.
Its not a program that I install to use on Firefox, I was hired to do adult text chat and apparently what they use only works on Firefox, I don't know why. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox 4 times, one time doing the custom install to strip the addons. The company I work for or am attempting to work for is Telepass, their web site is arousr.com.Zoomer said:What "program" needs you to have firefox, what job, who makes it?
I would uninstall firefox, including that, scan computer, clean registry and then install Firefox clean. Never heard of Firefox making a computer unstable... Don't install that "program" until you're sure Firefox is still "unstable" - but honestly, I'd be surprised...
Do you have anti virus, firewall, what version of windows and is it both legit and up-to-date? Did you shop buy the PC (at which point it may well be full of utter garbage in programs which you can uninstall), or build PC/install windows yourself.
So far my suspicion would be this mysterious program... until there's more to identify it.
What does that mean?? I don't have Firefox currently installed so that my computer will work and I feel like I am going to have to tell the lady I talk to that I am unable to use Firefox.JerryBoBerry said:Ah, sounds like a custom add on they made for firefox to enable Sms texts through their system. Probably using an IRC backbone but going through them for recordkeeping.
Perhaps you could type into a document then paste it into firefox, if that helps any of the issues? Rough workaround I know.Isis29 said:Its not a program that I install to use on Firefox, I was hired to do adult text chat and apparently what they use only works on Firefox, I don't know why.
