All public libraries have some free kindle books that you can check out through amazon, just like a physical book in the library itself. Amazon also has tons of free books that you can "buy" too.Evvie said:Thanks guys. Have you all found any good sources for free books out there? These are my thoughts exactly. The e-ink kindles are far better if you are going to spend most of your time actually reading. They are much easier on the eyes. I spend most of the day at the office looking at computer screens and coming home in the evening and reading on the non-backlit, e-ink kindle is a definite plus. The Fire has many things going for it, but the earlier kindles beat it hands down (in my opinion) for actual reading.ElaySmith said:Ask yourself this question...Do you want a book reader or something more similar to an IPad? If you want a great book reader save the money and buy a regular Kindle. I would recommend splurging on the 3G version so you can download books from anywhere at anytime though. If you want something with apps and all the bling and shit then go with Kindle Fire.
I decided to peek in here for a bit, and what Elay said helps a lot. I have the 3rd generation with e-ink, got it for Christmas from my nana.. At first I really wanted to get the Fire but I asked myself those questions also and I'm glad I have that. It's really good for car trips unless it starts getting dark, but you can always buy a book light to clip to your kindle cover if you have one. And if I ever want to get a tablet, I'll just worry about that later. I use my laptop much more for anything internet related and my phone for certain apps instead, so right now a tablet would be a bit of waste of money.Kradek said:These are my thoughts exactly.
