Like starting 2 or 3 months ago... every time im lagging, my frame rate and bitrate both look fine and its someone in the audience that finally speaks up to let me know im lagging. A simple restart of OBS usually fixes it, but it seemed that whenever that would happen in the past my frame rate and bitrate on chaturbate would show me this before I notice my room not building or someone mentioning it to me. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it possibly on my side, like obs is just messing up so chaturbate still sees me at 60 fps even though its not? But OBS will still show me at 60 fps too idk but it never happened until about 2 months ago and now its happening like 1 or 2 times a week to me. Its like those little graphs are lying to me now lol idk

Is it lagging for many, or just a few? (Appreciate that it may not be easy to establish this, when so many viewers will just stay silent even if you ask.......)
Your stream encoding and uploading may be fine, but because of the global server systems that CB uses, it may be lagging on the download side from the viewer's end, depending where they are in the world.
ETA: the viewer's own ISP performance could be a factor too, as yet another variable.

lmao its funny you say that, haha no one ever says a word when I ask the audience. But yes I usually find it to be happening to multiple people and I'll defiantly notice that my room doesn't build at all, and you'll see username left, username entered, right away like they are refreshing and then they just leave (like way more than usual).
I used to see my fps dip or something to tell me there is an issue, but yeah doesn't seem to anymore.

try other cb servers in obs

ooo I did not know there was, are they listed where I get my broadcast key?

It's in the 'Stream' tab under Settings in OBS, where you enter the stream key.
Usually defaults to 'Global Main Fastest - Recommended', but I've found that is often not the best option, even those locations geographically far from my country can perform better.
You can do a custom speedtest using just the CB servers, that will at least help you identify the fastest for you from all the listed locations.
Link here, but noting it can and will vary from day to day as to which is the best at that time: https://chaturbate.speedtestcustom.com/
But as mentioned, viewers in other locations may still have issues viewing the stream if their own connections are slower.

Thanks sooo much yall! My main server seems to be running just fine, but I'm not having issues at this moment. I do watch my stats in OBS too and that is also good when this takes place, but next time this happens I'll run that server test and try switching servers. Might be in the next day or two might be next week, lol idk when it'll happen to me again.

As a last resort you could also try setting obs to above normal or high priority on your PC. I have an OLD pc and to get the best picture quality with no lagging, I've found that this is the best strategy. But it will only help if your issue is hardware related. if you have a nice pc and graphics card and all that, it probably won't do much.

I seem to encounter random disconnections after an hour or so, but it usually reconnects automatically and all is well again.
do you stream with a device that's on ethernet? that's how i get the fastest connection...but even then I still have to turn off wifi on all other devices, even my phone, sometimes.

You are already using hardware encoder right? If so and you still need to adjust priority every time you may want to check out the software called process lasso which can remember your priority preferences.

Yes I have a pretty decent pc, and obs tells me im only using like 4% of my cpu when I'm usually using it. Oooo my OBS was not set to high priority though, ty! I just changed it. I have a few things to try now too if or when it does happen again.

You would only change priority if you have very limited resources and need to prioritize the process over others taking up those resources. For example on an old PC you might increase obs priority to above normal to prioritize obs over a browser like Google Chrome.

Sooo I liked that! lol the ATL server had a like 5 sec more delay but the fps was always 59 and literally made a straight line across both graphs all night. When I was on the CHI server it was weird that it would be at 63 fps and dip off and on to 59 constantly, but all my stuff is set to 60 lol

Either way, I can't believe I didn't know I could change servers in the past lol thank you all!!!!
