Yahoo and Google bots search forums to index them. Then the forum shows up on Yahoo and Google for people who may search some thing that is within what the bots indexed. It's nothing bad. But it can cause spam bots to join a forum eventually depending on the popularity of the forum.

I think Google[Bot] spends a good bit of time here... especially when a lot of new posts have been made. Takes longer to index all that fresh content.
