New filters on CB may push you down if you have no flag set

CB introduced new filters and now you can filter by country and you can no longer filter by region.

I know the region filter is used a lot
Users want to see , for example , only north American cams
Now they have to select the counties of north America , and that looks nice because you can also select only US cams
But if you have no flag set you will never show in the selection !!

Other problems:

-Some countries are missing , e.g. the Baltic states
-Some countries are already visible on top , i don't think that's fair to the other countries
-Something strange with Russia , Russia does not have a flag (i don't know why...) all Russian models appear in the selection as if they all have a flag
(as end user i like that because Russian models fake their country a lot and some even so bad that it's insulting to the country they pretend to be in)
-and something technical , a scrollbar appears at the bottom of the page because the text of the filter does not fit properly

as end user i like it but i would also be able to filter by region.

maybe @punker barbie can bring this to the developers too

Great find, droopla! The new Country filters allow fans to browse live cams by countries directly from the homepage.

As a quick note, region filtering is still available. In the new filter panel, click a region name to expand it and see the countries underneath, or tick the region checkbox to select the whole region at once. Selecting a whole region currently only pulls in creators who have their country flag on, which isn't how the old region filter behaved. That's been ticketed and is queued to be fixed.

As a creator, when your country visibility setting is turned on, your cam can appear under your country’s filter while you are live, increasing your discoverability and creating more opportunities to reach new viewers and grow your audience. As always, you remain in full control of your visibility: if you choose not to list your country, you’ll automatically be excluded from the Country filter results.

While we have your attention, can we please get 8 hashtags instead of 5? I don't think that's an outrageous number of tags to have and having to do unicode stuff on other tags is kind of annoying because according to my intel those two things act differently on site.

In a way you are pushing models to show the country they are in or lose potential traffic. Would it not be more model friendly to have a separate option to let them decide to show up in filter by country while keeping the option to display the flag separate?

For example maybe a Colombian model doesn't want to display their flag because they don't want users to assume they don't speak English but at the same time they don't mind people realizing they are Colombian via filtering.

Models that don't speak english already write in english using translators so that doesn't change anything. The visible flag sets the assmption that they do not verbally speak english.

There's an auto-translator now that can translate to whatever their native language is no matter what language the other person typed in.

That new featiure doesn't seem to have rolled out in my area yet, but I'm interested to give it a try.
I'd think language is still a relevant consideration, even with the translator option, as that only works on what is written in public chat.
There's still a lot of benefit in interacting with a mutual language being spoken, especially when in private.

I notice a very "USA" way to see this. Flags are being used to "locate/track down" models by country (creepy and unsafe), while they should be used to group them by language, because COMMUNICATION SHOULD BE THE WHOLE POINT here.
It is very obvious, when you take into consideration that a model can only choose 1 flag, while most of us are bilinguals-/polyglots (and we could easily generate way more income if that would have been taken into consideration regarding our exposure.)

I do wonder if there is often a disconnect between what models need and what the platform provides.
Developers need to listen to feedback consistently before implementing something new.

This change doesn't even provide a benefit to Chaturbate really because it limits the exposure of certain models who can speak multiple languages. Maybe the platform thinks the new translation feature is good enough to ignore that but that seems very naive given it's just text chat.

I've searched by region before, which I'd prefer to continue to do rather than by specific country; I think that could be limiting, especially for smaller countries.
I rarely search by hashtags, because I don't have specific attributes that I'm searching for, it's more about the model's personality for me.
But I guess you have to start looking somewhere, and so my preference is to start by region, then browse via 'suggested for you' or from the 'more rooms like this' tab.
