lol I know there are plenty of makeup threads here, but I can't find one that really pertains to this specific situation.

I think my lights are triggering my face to produce more oil when I'm streaming. Like with the same makeup, same style ect, I can go out and it lasts like 8-10 hours easily before it starts looking all oily and stuff. But in front of the cam with my lights all on, it lasts maybe 2-3 hours. I've tried a few different cleansers and primers that kind of also hydrate but once again, it always works fine until I'm in front of my lights. Is there like a setting spray or something that can stop whatever the lights are emitting from hitting my skin or something out there? Does anyone else come across this issue at all?

Yeah I use e.l.f. setting spray. It's $5. Another thing you can do is use alcohol-free witch hazel or medical grade witch hazel as a toner before applying your makeup. Also try to buy photo-ready foundations.
I use their primer, I mind as well use their setting spray lol

Ahhhh that might be your issue. I used their primer and felt like my entire face was going to slide off under the lights.
lol relatable af! I only use like half a pump, because its soooo slippery feeling

Yeah, a dab'll do ya. Super light. I mean I didn't see any difference in pore size but that's never been my issue to begin with. I just didn't want the foundation to settle into my 44-year-old lines.
I give it a try! ty!

Im a greasy Italian. If i dont set my makeup with setting powder my cream makeup will melt off my face. The cammign lights also dont help. For me personally, sprays aren't enough. I need to set it with powder for several minutes. Gotta bake that shit in.

Coty airspun setting powder has been around since the early 1900s and is talc-free. It's also super affordable and found at drugstores. Sometimes it's found with the nail stuff.

I used to come across it a lot, but mainly specifically with my nose. I tried blotting papers on the advice of another model, but they never worked for me. So now I contour, then use Charlotte Tilsbury airbrush fine-milled powder. To me, that's an expensive makeup item (it's all relative). Compared to drug store stuff, it's pricey. I've tried a lot of (what I would call pricey) makeup and cheaper stuff, and a lot of the time the extra money isn't worth it. I did find that with this stuff it is though, it worked for me. I use that with L'Oréal Lumify tinted serum, no setting spray, and I have no more issues.

I have 45 y/o skin though, and older skin usually responds better to way different products compared to younger skin, but not always.

ETA; Ok I just read the post above me (hadn't read it when I first responded). Yes, Italian here also, who drinks coffee daily which makes me produce more italian grease lol But yes, I agree with Audry I have to use setting powder. That's the solution there for me also. I use the powder to set between the contour and the serum, but you can also use it at the end (on top of foundation/ serum/ tinted moisturizer). Using between seems to work good enough for me, and I'm impatient. I stopped using primers completely because they made my skin oilier. I use skin oil before bed and a gua sha, so I don't think I need any extra.

I used to never use a primer really, I'm 38 and I didn't really start using a primer until I was looking for ways to combat the oily skin in front of the lights late last year. I also always use powder on my nose, it hides the dimples and such very very well. I started using powder there when I was peeling from sunburn once, and never really stopped.

I have a friend that go-go dances and does a lot of body paint and stuff. She is saying loose setting powder works very well when getting sweaty in front of hot and bright lights a lot and you really want to lock in that glam.

I love love love MAC studio fix if you want solid coverage and a billion shades. But some peoples skin oil reacts differently to it. For me it’s the perfect thing to take the shine off my nose and it does my under eye really well too, and it’s super ready to reapply as needed but….its starting to settle into my fine lines cuz I’m 51 boohoo!!!
