THAT'S how work SHOULD be. Now that sounds like fun. How about you bring some chocolate buttons, mynameisbob brings the white russians and I bring the cheesy Christmas movies. We can sit around drinking, talking about boobs and watching mushy movies while we eat chocolate. :D Just no crying please! :p

I can't guarantee a lack of tears, but sure :-D

Merry Christmas all!, My tree is 2 feet tall and pre lit. It is perfect for me. I love Christmas, where I am from there would be certain areas of town where the homes , one right after the other would be lit up with lights. The entire block!

Mmm! Post pics if you can, I love Christmas Cookies!

I have sort of done some decorating and still no shopping. I'm so eager to get out of my house and embrace the full effect of the season. At least I changed my laptop wallpaper to all Christmas! EEEEP! I don't want it to be over. ;o;

There are a lot of things I love about Christmas.

One I don't like is that it reminds me that I still haven't collected my Easter Egg prizes from Asha. :)

Huh?!! MFC mail me about this por favor, I thought I got everyone taken care of o.0 I'm so confused!

Sorry if I wasn't clear!
ATTENTION EVERYONE: I WAS CRITICIZING MYSELF, NOT ASHA!!!

I won and never knew and never checked on it.
Asha was very conscientious and MFC mailed me about it.
Without her effort, I would have never even known I won.

I never got back to her with my information for the prizes.
It was totally my fault, and I was making fun of that.

Once again, sorry if I wasn't clear!

EVERYBODY - ASHA IS RESPONSIBLE AND AWESOME.
(and don't you forget it!!!)

oh, and Charlie's pretty cool too.

O.O *wonders what brought that on*

Since you said "reminds me that I need to" I figured there was something you needed to do to receive the prize that you never got around to doing. Especially something like giving an email address or mailing address so she can get the prize to you. (I have problems with this part)

Also, Christmas Story and National Lampoons Christmas Vacation

Love. these.

This is my first year really living with my partner, so... I'm actually kind of excited about Christmas for the first time in... a long time. I really want us to get a tree at some point, but he doesn't have any ornaments and all of mine are still at my parent's place (which is 5 hours away), so that probably won't happen this year. I'm hoping that we'll be able to buy an awesome artificial tree on sale after the holidays, though, so next year we can make the house more cheery.

Regardless, we're both going to go visit our families over the holidays. I am going to go stay with my grandmother and visit my parents for almost a week, and he's spending Christmas weekend with his family before coming to pick me up and meeting some of my family he hasn't met yet (he's met pretty much all of the immediate family except my father -- I'm mildly nervous, lol). I would go spend time with his family, but there are.. issues.. there. *rolls eyes*

Anyway, Christmas shopping and spending time with him has really made me feel warm and fuzzy this year. Not to mention that THE CHRISTMAS PRODUCTS AT LUSH ARE BACK. Er.. *cough*... sorry, getting a little too excited there. ;)

I bought some Pilsbury Sugar Cookie Dough with the christmas tree stamps in the middle. Here's where the story gets bad, I ate the whole box without cooking any of them. :crybaby: I love Christmas cookies!

Thanksgiving is definitely more my holiday. It's the only on that hasn't become more about commercialism than anything else. As Bill Hicks put it when talking about Easter, "We celebrate the death and resurrection of Christ by telling our children that a giant bunny left chocolate eggs in the night. Anyone wonder why we're fucked up as a race?" Christmas is like that for me. We're celebrating the solstice four days late because the Christians co-opted the holiday to get sun worshippers to convert.

With that said, I definitely get into the season as much as possible while working in retail. I was at work setting up Christmas displays at 8pm on Halloween and get exposed to the worst possible covers of good Christmas songs. There should be support groups for people who have heard the version of Santa Baby sung by a man more than once.

I've already bought some gifts, saw TransSiberian Orchestra, added my usual Christmas playlist to my music library, and done the necessary manscaping to make a certain area resemble a mistletoe. I'm also working on a thing I'm calling MFC-cret Santa with another premium. It's exactly what it sounds like. Let me know if you're interested so I can share details.

Am I the only one that is curious to see the manscaping?

You better be. That part was a joke...a joke that will probably become a reality now...

Each Christmas holiday is different for me... sometimes I am really excited about it and into it and others I can't wait for it to pass. This year... I am for some reason crazy excited about it, lol! It's also my first December ever camming, so I think the fact that I can kind of celebrate everything/ share the Christmas feel with so many people each day kind of helps as well. Oh... and taking lots of "festive", naughty pics helps make it fun too! (Lol... this is a mild one)

I dig the core Christmas stuff like the midnight candlelight readings and carols at a church, and the big dinner with the family. I also like carolers going door-to-door.

I can deal without all the shopping.

Thanks and Merry Christmas to you too hun!!! :) Oooo! I def wold love to know when you visit TX again! Would love to see you! Keep me updated! MUAH!

You guys are gonna shit when i get done with my apartment and post pictures of my decorations! My roomate and i have made SOOOO many paper snowflakes and chains it's crazy. Fucking winter wonderland up this shit!

It's so awesome it makes me swear like a sailor, sorry.

A few years back I found some tinsel on my drunken walk home from the pub. When I arrived home I snapped a branch of a tree and stuck it in a bucket of sand on the stereo speaker then placed the tinsel over it. Underneath I placed the gifts I had wrapped for my dogs, a football for Tarscha and a pack of tennis balls for Rum.
People would visit me and laugh at my efforts for xmas and on future visits they would bring some decorations with them to put on the tree. It was fairly full at the end, lol.
I also used to run an "orphans" xmas party for people that had no family in town or those who just wanted an excuse to have a party . I would charge $30/head and have a pig on the spit, chickens on the other spit, ham, roast pork in the webber, potato bake, beer and a punch (my punches are/were pretty special, lol). I would get 30-40 people to these events.
We would eat, drink and party all night and go straight to the pub on boxing day. Good times had by all.

If Christmas involved candy or costumes then I would be all up its ass but it doesn't and the celebration at stores has started sometime after labor day in some cases and can go fucking rot.

Though I do enjoy watching Home Alone, national lampoons christmas vacation, christmas story and so forth. The one thing I'd change? How I can find some of the awesomest gifts for people but yet when people ask me what Id want I go blank and can't think of a god damn thing BUT I am making a list of things I want to buy myself once the holidays are done- What the crap is that?

bah humbug. But just for the thread, Secret Santa guy

and a another secret santa

I make pretty good money now, but grew up poor, so I know that it sucks to not have money at Christmas.

Every year, a few days before Christmas when I'm shopping for the Turkey, etc, I go to a store in a less prosperous part of town, get in line behind someone who looks like they might need a few dollars (I usually pick young women with kids), then I just pay for their purchases along with mine.

It doesn't cost much (the most it's ever cost me was around $75), and hopefully makes a difference in someone's life- the $40-75 she saves on food might mean the kids can get Christmas gifts.

Plus, it feels really great to do it. I should probably do it more often.

That Secret Santa Guy is awesome!

Here is another guy who does a 'secret santa' cash giveaway. He uses a little more humour... but he is very genuine.

I liked Christmas up until my sister turned around 13 or so.
Now its me spending a day or two walking on eggshells and trying to avoid upsetting a stoned 16 yearold.
Hate the damn shopping. Crowds and bad music nooooo

But I like the food and sweets and presents and eggnog :D
