Yes, I deleted the thread about the casting call.

I think it's hilarious:

New posters come in with an advertisement, and ask for people to "PM them if interested in contact info" and everyone calls them out for not posting it publicly and seeming secretive/shady. New poster gets shit-talked until they either ask me to delete the thread or just disappear.

OR

New posters come in with an advertisement, word it very professionally as well as display the contact email and website directly in their post and everyone still calls them out for seeming shady, and then harass the poor people via the email address they listed publicly, even after someone verified that it was legit.

There's. Just. No. Winning.

There is still information within the Models Only section for girls who are interested in following up about the documentary casting call.

:? I'm thinking it's some sort of world wide scheme and "'they"' have introduced some mind altering drug into the public water supplies. Conspiracies spring from dust bunnies and it makes folks all bitchy and argumentative at the slightest provocation.

... heading back into my cave now.. be well.

It's like "these people are legit" doesn't register with some people... they just want to jump in and haze others.

I'm still wondering about that sneezygirls offer... but dude left the forum.

SneezyGirls was shady because they weren't willing to own up to the fact that they were simply a clips4sale studio and weren't willing to provide more information at all.

The casting call that Amber's talking about was legit and did answer the questions asked of them.

I do not want to take this too far off-topic. Amber's initial post addressed the fact that we call everyone shady regardless of what's going on.

Sneezygirls was not JUST a clips4sale studio, they also have their own website. And while I agree that we needed some more answers from them, they were berated for the answers that they did give, and girls jumped on them for everything they said as well as things they didn't say, and for theories other people stated about them.

I'm just pointing out, that one seemed legit to me. In fact, google searching Sneezygirls brought up quite a few legit links that it would've been nice if we'd actually contacted them through to see if they really were connected to the poster here before jumping down that poster's throat.

And yes, I'm aware that the missing thread is the legit casting call that was put on here.

I wish people here would give new posters the benefit of the doubt again. It's getting very cliquey, and I don't like that.

Yes.

I'm all for skepticism. But when I've criticized posts in the past, it was for failing to identify themselves, failing to identify who's involved in the project, and failing to offer any links to previous work so they could be checked out. This post did all of that.

I expected some hesitation, but I didn't expect that contact info to be used to harass the people involved, particularly when that's precisely what they did right.

look, im pretty sure that this model is not legit at all. i have serious doubts that she exists in any way. it is my theory that she happens to be a cyborg sent from the far future to conquer our time by hypnotizing all of the males by bouncing up and down so her ta-tas shake. either that or she is a complex AI with advanced CG design made by the illuminati to bring down the government. or something similarly paranoid (loves ya miss luna, yer the bomb no matter if you are a construct or not)

That works for Models, and I suppose a creative non-Model with connections could figure a way to have the info smuggled out, Or prolly even find it elsewhere. But the one seems dastardly, while the other seems like work. Nether works for a lazy guy who has given up all things underhanded. Not that it matters to me for sure, but there was mention of members being invited to make contact to share their stories of member/Model interactions, in the OP.

I feel that I've played my fair part in being mean to new people, which gives me a sad.

In the same vein, being mean to new posters seems to have become a popular trend not recently but some time back. I actually have bad feels for people who come here looking for help or advice and who get attacked for not already knowing what to do. It feels like a lot of people here (myself included, perhaps) have decided that some things are common knowledge and that anyone who doesn't already understand is a fuckhead who must be screamed at until they give up and leave us smarties alone.

ACF has been very important to me for some time, but lately it feels like a tense Thanksgiving dinner where everyone just wants to yell at each other in-between going out back to feed the trolls.

Several days ago I made a decision to stop going to ACF, and I'm actually upset to say that so far, my life has been less stressful for it. With all respect to the ladies, there is actually something wrong when we say, "I'm afraid to leave the Model's Only section."

I actually just popped in to get some information from an old message on here, and the first thing I found was a thread about how ACF members are actively harassing people off-site, because those people had the audacity to join a public forum and talk about a project. If that isn't elitism, I don't know what is.

I am sure I won't be gone forever, and this is going to be a sour parting note, but I decided to stop coming here because this forum is, at least for now, not an enjoyable place for me. And I imagine with this message you all won't be exactly jumping to see me again :)

With that, I'll say goodbye for the near future, or at least as long as I can manage to stay away.

This place will calm down eventually. It's just that certain particularly large and dramatic issues exploded all at once, and it brought in an influx of rubbernecking one-post newbies and weirdos. I can't fault the forum for being a bit out of sorts amidst a larger chaos. Now that things are seeming to settle, I hope that people can start to relax again and we can push out the jive and bring in the love.

Well, not only do I hope that everyone can settle back in to feeling comfy here, but I also hope that maybe some of the recent events and posts can lead to a bit more open-minded replies and posting in all sections of this forum.

If anything, I hope people can learn from comments that have been posted and ideas that have been shared and try to approach new people and new ideas in a more objective light as opposed to keeping with their "nope" mindset that I fear many have fallen into. I am all for camaraderie here among ACFers who have been around a long while, and a sisterhood between the models who talk regularly in the models only section, but it really would be wonderful to not become a high school clique fest here.

There will always be asshats, trolls and jerks that will get a knee-jerk reaction (and likely a quick ban) but to feel things out a bit and see how threads evolve is both interesting and conducive to a more fun and enriching environment.

Well, for what it's worth, as a still-pretty-new guy, I've never felt unwelcome. It really does matter how people choose to introduce themselves to the forum, I think. I've never been part of a forum community where that wasn't the case, though.

I was a HUGE dick in my post and haven't been back to read this thread since. My apologies. :handgestures-salute:

Deletion of the original thread probably saved me from a rain of feces. Mostly because my comment was not going to be directed at the OP, but rather to another post made by someone in the community.

I guess it's a good thing that I don't tend to reply upon first impulse but like to let things marinate for a while before acting.

I may have missed the thread that was deleted, but I've probably gotten the gist. I'd seen it happen so many times that they all kind of blur into each other. This stuff is definitely not a new or recent problem, although it might have become a more common occurrence. I am not a new member, but this is part of the reason I'd become more of a lurker.

Thank you Amber for this forum. I hope this does have an overall positive effect.

I stopped posting for a while, in large part because I said some dumb things that understandably hurt feelings. However, after readings some recent threads like "suggestion for models thread" where poor Malek got run out of town, as did a couple of guys who tried to defend him, I've become intimidated enough to stop posting unpopular opinions on controversial issues. Now some hazing of newbies with an attitude, or who post dumb things early on is common in most online communities. I read enough earlier threads to know, that other than new models who are treated gently, ACF has never rolled out the red carpet. I get that ACF is a sanctuary for many models in the middle of a often ugly camming world, filled with assholes, trolls, cappers, scammers, stalkers and general jerks. So it is natural that you all would be protective of the place and your fellow models. But as Marokite, LadyLuna and others are saying it has become much worse lately.

In fact, as an online community junkie for 30 years, I'd say that ACF lately is among the most hostile places I've ever seen for new guys. Which is really tragic because Amber is one of the wisest most tolerant forum admins, I've run across. Plus there are members like LadyLuna who are unfailing polite, and helpful, but still state their strong opinions in an effective manner. She has truly mastered the art of disagreeing without being disagreeable and a great role model IMO.

In the suggestion thread Rogue Warrior said “I am a much better member because of this forum. I have a much better understanding of what it takes for a model to be successful because of this forum.”, I know he is right. I think MFC and other camsites would be kinder, friendlier and maybe even more lucrative places if more MFC member got the education Rogue and I got. But if the price of education, is being wienie roasted, for saying anything dumb or ignorant, or even just strongly stating a different opinion, most guys will pass on paying the tuition. :(
