Any tips?
I'm so scared of just logging on and sitting in an empty room for four hours. hah!
Any recommendations on the busiest hours to do so?

Thank you!

Test your cam first to see how it looks! Make sure you have good lighting. Have one drink if you're nervous but DONT get drunk. Put some music you like on. And be yourself!
You have a new model tag so that will attract some people to your room! Engage them in conversation - about whatever it is you like to do etc.

Figure out what your boundaries are and don't let anyone talk you into doing anything that you aren't comfortable with.

There will always be another tipper. Don't let someone with tokens influence the way you do anything.

If you're REALLY nervous, make a premium account with a different name, and in another browser use your first tokens to tip yourself... seems a little lame, but tips do bring other tips in and your first few hours on mfc are crucial to camscore. Plus a premium account isn't much, you'd get half back and having a premium account is a wicked feature as a model! At the same time as doing this you'll also be able to see what your cam feed looks like to everyone else.

And like the others said, good lighting, make sure you've checked out other models (and not just the top ones) to see countdowns etc, have your boundaries worked out, they may change which is fine, but know from the start what you think you'll be comfortable with first time on cam. Personally I'd get verified model status on here and check out the new model mistakes part first, but if you want to come online straight away that's cool. I'd also have a twitter page already set up, maybe have a "get to x amount of followers and a sexy pic".

Other than that... try and enjoy yourself, I find standing up and moving around helps keep me motivated and it's a lot more entertaining to watch (not saying you always have to be dancing/standing up, but a bit of variation is nice and brings people to the room). Talking out loud is good too, and personally I'd set pm's as only friendslist, and remember to mute guests/basics! My main new model mistake was thinking guests and basics could tip me and wasting loads of time in pms with total beggars! I remember some dude was ridiculously proud of eventually after chatting to me for ages giving me my first tip (10 whole tokens).

If it doesn't start out well it is NOT the end of the world, but if you do start out well it will give you a big push! :)

And last of all, good luck! :)

That's the only cam guide thread I know of in the public part of the forum. There's a heck of a lot more info in the model's only section.

Don't give out your personal information! 1% of the people watching you are capable of becoming so obsessed as to stalk you. If you have 200 people wander through your room, that's 2 people. Even 1 person stalking you is too much!

-paypal will give out your personal details, so don't use it!

-amazon will give out city and state, and there are many ways for the guys to get your whole info. Either have them email gift cards, or have a po box that will accept deliveries for your alias.

-create a new gmail or hotmail account specifically for interaction with the members. This should not be the same account you signed up for MFC with. When signing up for the email address, use an alias as your "real name".

-DO NOT ever give a member the email you signed up for mfc with, or the password to your mfc account.

I know this sounds paranoid, but so many models have found out the hard way, to trust a member with your personal information is to trust them with your sanity, if not your life.

Look into the camera and smile! People are much more likely to enter a room if the room preview shows an engaged, smiling model.

Be ready to answer the following questions repeatedly until members get to know you: "Where are you from?" and "Do you do anal/skype/toys/dirty talk/etc?"

Stick to your guns about what you will and won't say and do. If you don't run your room, it will run you.

Turn off your PMs, or ignore them as much as possible. As a new model, you will get buried in PMs and you won't be able to give your room the attention it deserves if you respond to them.

Good luck! Come back and tell us how it went! :handgestures-salute:

Id suggest also having some things for sale if youre able and willing to. Videos, pics, panties, etc can really bring in tippers to your room for a great cam score push right at the top :)

Good Luck !!

So, exhaustive searching has pulled up some things I knew I could find in the public area if I only looked hard enough :P

Keep in mind, these are really old. Please don't resurrect the thread unless you have something really important to add! If you just want to say thanks, just use the thanks button. If you just want to agree with what's already been said, use the thanks button, and keep the "I agree" out of it. Thanks!

Tips on tips (the second post, which is by Tubby, really has some good advice, regardless of how he decided to act more recently)

Ladies, I'd like some input regarding cam equipment. (exactly as it sounds, talks about camming, lighting, computers, setup, and all sorts of stuff like that)

You could always take a look at the wonderful helpful Kool Ray videos

I kid I kid---don't do that!
