Well it is certainly enforceable for any UK based porn site and probably for a US one also. Probably much more difficult for sites based in Cyprus, Malta, and Eastern European sites. Would the UK block access to a site like MFC which doesn't require credit card or other age verification? who knows but conceivably.

I've long said that MFC is lawsuit waiting to happen because they make no effort to prevent kids from accessing the website, and while the no masturbation/toys in public is in the rules it is not enforced.

Unless it's required and enforced world wide, kids will just go to the next site. I've never entered cc info solely for age verification anywhere, ever, mostly due to the rampant fraud and ID thievery that goes on. Not to mention how pathetically easy it is for kids to get their parent's cc info without their knowledge.

Does that mean UK girls with sites will have to do something?
I guess I wont be able to sell access through amazon vouchers anymore, but I knew I shouldn't really be doing that anyway, because of amazon not really allowing it.
At the moment people get access with tokens on MFC.

A more detailed story is here http://www.independent.co.uk/news/u...hecks-says-uk-industry-regulator-9220615.html

Atvod said the issue of children accessing online pornography was so urgent that it was "critical the legislation is enacted during this Parliament”.

And it said sites that did not comply with age checks should be forbidden from processing payments from British customers.

Currently, Atvod [Authority for Television on Demand,], forces pornographic websites based in the UK to carry out age verification checks before customers can view explicit photographs or video, the BBC said, by requiring valid credit card details or personal information that can be checked.

But it said the vast majority of online pornography was downloaded from overseas businesses, over which it has no control.

Atvod wants all adult sites to request a licence which would be granted on the condition that age checks were in place, with credit and debit card operators not allowed to handle fees for services from UK citizens to unregistered sites
.

I am not familiar with how much power that UK Regulators have (I suspect as much or more than US ones) but it appears that they are asking for Parliament to act so probably not a lot will change until that happens.

In the case of MFC, I'm sure they could effectively shut it down for both UK members and models, using the same methods that shut down internet poker in the US. Once you make it illegal for banks to do business with a non complaint porn site or any of the payment method associated with the site, UK members can't buy tokens and UK models can't get paid....

Shutting down a tubesite is harder, but probably they could be fairly effective simply by targeting big porn companies like Manwin. It is pretty hard for large European company to move money around without using a UK bank somewhere in the process.

It is also worth noting that a site like Streammate appears to comply with the spirit of the law, so they would need to make minimal changes. SM would viable option for UK members and models alike.

Jesus wept. You'd almost think there weren't bigger issues for government to be tackling...

How many millions in taxpayers' money is this gonna wind up costing? And what's the upshot?

If it goes through, it's potentially gonna cost people their jobs; it's inevitable that scam porn sites will crop up inviting people to enter their credit card details to "prove they're an adult" and then using their card details to rinse them (I hope this happens to a few of the politicians backing this mess); and it's not even gonna stop kids from looking up porn. The UK government can't govern every porn site on the internet (apparently there's a lot of them), and they're sure as shit not gonna stand between horny teenage boys and their wank material.

And what's the point of this anyway? I'm sure parents don't want their children being exposed to graphic sexual material, but it's their responsibility to monitor and restrict their child's internet access and maybe, just maybe do some parenting and actually talk to their kid about sex and sexuality. And if that fails, and their 15 year old kid still finds his way to a porn site and jerks off to some heaving bosoms... is that really so terrible? I was thwacking off to Spice Girls postcards when I was 14. I don't recall the government stepping in to restrict my access to Spice Girls merchandise in a futile bid to "protect " me...

I agree with you on priorities...

But in the US we ask merchants to obtain ID before letting kids view R rated movies in a theater, buy adults only games like GTA, purchase cigarettes, pot, or booze, and even cold tablets in some states. Do these stop all kids from gaining access to all of this products of course not. Do they prevent and deter a lot of kids? I think so. I am sure the percentage of 12 year old boys that have visited a hard core porn site in the last month, is much higher than those who have drank, bought pot, or been to an R rated movie.

What is wrong with requiring porn site to take the same precautions as other vendors of adult products?

I have entered credit card info hundreds of times for age verification and have yet to be scammed.. Even if I do get scammed, I'm not liable for fraudulent charges and I get a new card issued quickly. Whenever I've had a dispute with a porn site (typically a trial membership with fine print) I have never had a big problem getting it reversed.

I'm sorry but I think expecting that parents can effectively monitor their kids internet usage is wishful thinking. Plenty of parents or 12 years are in their 40s and not digital natives. It is also not enough to be more internet savvy than your 12 year old you also have to be smarter than all of his friends. Considering that I have yet to met s model or a member under 25 who was NOT watching porn on the net when they were 13 or so, I'd say parents across the globe have failed miserably.

The 1st amendment prevents such a law from being passed in the US, but it will be interesting to see what happens in the UK.

Oh I am totally looking for Ginger, Posh, and Sporty Spice in a naked 3 some. Magazine would be preferred but I guess postcards will do how many tokens bb?

I think there will be ways round this. I get paid through Payoneer, as US based payment facilitator who use a US bank. And I guess tokens could be bought with a pre-paid debit card, though it's hard enough for some to work out how to use their own debit/credit cards, let alone get a pre-paid one!

And I hadn't thought of this. Part of my site is free, the other requires payments by tokens. guess the free part would have to be far less adult.

I guess I was lucky. My older brothers were 8-10 years older than me and I found out where they hid their Playboys/skinmags. Then at the end of 6th grade, I got luckier. A teacher "volunteered" me to help with the school paper drive. The very first time, I came across a stash of about 5 years of Playboy mags mixed in with the newspapers. For the next 3 years, I was the first one to volunteer  There weren't skin mags every month, but more often than you would think for a "school" function. Every time I found some loot, I snuck it into my book satchel. Since I had so many and since I didn't get an allowance, I sold extras to guys at my school. I was probably a dummy, but I rarely got more than 25-50 cents each...but that was OK. Still paid for my sodas and baseball cards!

That wouldn't have happened today. I would have been ratted out on twitter or facebook the first day by some jealous kid

In my generation it was the (original) Charlie's Angels.. The Farrah Fawcett poster in particular caused much seed to be spilled.

My best friend and I found his dad's Playboy around 10 or 11. I found internet porn early 1983 or 84 via USNET.
