Does anyone else have this issue?? Uploading 4K videos on my share takes F O R E V E R

Any suggestions/tips??

You may want to try compressing the file. 4K video files, especially if 60 FPS, are significantly larger than 1080 vids and so it’s only natural they’ll take much longer to upload. I know there’s some programs that allow you to compress video file sizes, as well as online options. I don’t use it so I can’t recommend a program or site, but I’m sure someone else here will be able to.

I use wondershare to compress mine. A lifetime license was only $50 or $60. Recently there have been a lot of updates (where they miss some tiny things, which can get a bit taxing, for anal people like me). On the other hand, for such a cheap price, who really cares (or has the right to demand perfection).

The issue I had with them (that might be relevant here), was that they would take MP4 1080p 60fps, and compress it to a smaller mp4 size just fine (still 1080p 60fps). But it would automatically compress any WMV down to 1080p and 30fps, which annoyed me. I notice there has recently been another big update, so hopefully, that has been fixed. Their customer support are very nice, although in Japan (so huge time difference). They have helped me for hours before, team viewing on my computer, and have been really patient and friendly (no extra charge). Way more than I expected for only $60. I have used them for 4K 1080p 30fps files too, and had no issues, (other than aforementioned wmv format issue).

ETA- They have the basic cut, trim, sew, crop, watermark , add filter features etc, but nothing fancy like adobe or da vinci resolve. So good for some basic type editing, not so much complicated special effects or anything like that.

Also, if possible a better internet package w faster upload and download speeds helps too. There are sites you can use to check your upload and download speeds, and then compare to what other packages your service provider may be offering.

Am I the only one to think that 4k is not usable today, and 60fps useless for anything else than gaming ?
Still need so much expensive hardware on client side... (ie a real big big screen)

Anyway : a nice and free "anything formatter" (video, pics, audio, ...) can be found here. Link to the soft editor's site : format factory
It seems to offer the same basic options than this wondershare, I never tested though on any 4k video (but it proposes 4k, I checked)

It has all options to re-encode (mkv, avi, wmv, mov, mp4, 3gp...), resize, cropping, change fps
and almost no editing option but basic cropping, cutting, merging, basic mixing of audio

ETA: The other soft proposed on this page "picosmo tools" is only to edit pictures or compose very little animation. It doesn't worth it to edit videos.

Idk if these strokers are just lying, but a lot of them on SM tell me, they got me up on their TV screens. Like they are syncing all their home electronics and going all theatre-style w the porno through Bluetooth. Tbh if I were a single dude, that's what I would be doing too, so I kind of admire the dedication to porno/ masturbation.

My camera can do 4K, but I am pretty sure SM won't let anyone stream above 1080p. So I don't think I could ever stream live in 4K. I don't go above 1080p on clips, unless someone specifically orders 4K on a custom, which no one has yet. But I do see a lot of 4K clips advertised on MV, so people must be buying them. Probably a lot of these rich horny people, that have home theatres for viewing porn.

While many don't care about 4k vs 1080p everyone should care about 60fps on any kind of scene with motion going on. As long as the model has their exposure set as low as they can with decent lighting the smoothness is very noticeable.

First of 60fps isn't useless, a lot of people enjoy that frame rate. Also when it comes to 4k it's much more useful than you think. You don't need a a 4k monitor either to notice the difference for one important reason, which is compression. Often sites will compress whatever video you upload which results in them looking noticeably worse than the original. For this reason 4k videos will always look better on a 1080p monitor. Even if you don't upload in 4k, shooting in 4k and exporting in 1080p will give you a better quality video.

Yes, just to back up what cbhours said (regarding specifically 60fps vs 30fps), there is a really big difference between 1080p 30fps, and 1080p 60fps. On my monitor (which is only 1080p), footage in 1080p 60fps, is way clearer with a smoother motion, and appears crisper. In comparison to the exact same footage, lighting etc compressed down to 1080p at 30fps.

ETA; Hence why it's annoying when a file compression service automatically compresses down to 30fps, on certain formats. I don't know enough about it to know why a compression service would do that, but it does affect visual quality for the viewer.
