for the uninitiated: vaporwave is a genre of music??? aesthetics?? the guys and gals over at the vaporwave subreddit summarized it pretty well here:

In summary, Vaporwave:
1. Appropriates, imitates and recontextualizes pop culture artifacts from the 80's and 90's, typically kitschy and/or banal material.
2. Utilizes audio and visual techniques and manipulation to emphasize the medium's artificiality and medium-ness.

Yes! I was so weirded out when I first discovered vaporwave because I was so into it despite electronic music never being my thing. Sometimes I throw it on during my shows for music that's a nice relaxing vibe but isn't super distracting. There's a playlist called This Is Vaporwave on Spotify that I'm constantly listening to.
