I found this adorably cute and laugh out loud funny. At what age do we start lying? It seems to be a short time, from brutally honest kid observations to lying about the littlest thing.

Pretty much everything we know we're taught. Obviously some children genetically have kinder or crueler natures, but most of it is nurture.

"are those drugs in your pocket?"
"yup. And now that I told you the truth you can't ground me"
It wasn't the best system lol
Eh we still talk but after a long period of being apart. She's the type of mother who just doesn't have natural maternal instincts. The way she raise me was very unconventional. Although I tuned out okay, I won't be raising my (future) children in the same way.bob said:PlayboyMegan said:I was really honest as a child, but it's because my mom made a rule that as long as I told the truth, I wouldn't get punished.

not for immediate results.....but your mom sounds like someone who was into parenting for the long term...and being able to trust your kids is a challenging place to start, but yields the best results, imo.....
"doing drugs" is the fear of almost every adult who's involved with kids nowadays, i'm thinkin....and it scares a lot of adults into wearing their ostrich costume....as a parent tho, having that information is imperative to understanding your kid.....
not the way i did it...but it seems to have worked for your mom....assuming you're still talking
